2019 G Paul Mulcahy Visits Friday

God, you get him and Massoud for 2019 and that would be something.

This is a guy I would love to have a RU. I have seen him play and he is very good.

Art, do you think he translates well to the next level?I have not seen him. I think he can. He has about every part needed to work at the next level, but I do not know about his level of athleticism.

I wish the best to Mulcahy.

Notre Dinero just landed a very similar player, Robby Carmody, who is not related to the former Div-III Union College hoops star Bill Carmody, the current Holy Cross coach.

The kid can really pass and score and is about 6'5" as a soph this past season. He also can rebound & lead a fast break. He is a pretty good outside shooter as well. He really impressed me when I saw him play at Kean.

Carmody is big league-----athletically it isn't even close-------ridiculous hops----lights out shooter from 3------they beat some major people for him.

Mulcahy is a solid player------just think he'll struggle guarding people at this level but he's a take no doubt about it.

Would love to put a go pro on him and see the visit from the recruits perspective

2018 SF Cole Swider, a player I'd love to have at RU, cut his list this spring and then to a Final Four of Xavier, Cuse, Duke and Nova....he was a Duke take for sure, but picked Villanova.....Nova now has two elite/very good wing prospects lined up for 2018....that doesn't mean Nova will not target Mulcahy, but that has to factor into Nova's pursuit at some point....

Same with Notre Dame, but kids have sometimes made decisions to join rosters when playing time truly isn't there....NY's SF Matt Ryan was the latest kid to pick ND 3 years ago, when ND had a lot of players ahead of him on the depth chart and he pretty much burned 2 years of little play, before transferring this spring to Vanderbilt. He needed that reset button badly.

Mulcahy would be a much better fit here, but I'd venture to guess would be more likely to consider RU, if we do a good job of adding quality pieces at other positions in the 2018 class ahead of that. Mathis and others would make the likelihood of staying in this recruiting race down the road and into next spring/summer.

Mulcahy has as high a Basketball IQ as any HS Junior in the nation. Repeat...nation. He's got 2 years of HS left. He's only gonna get stronger and tougher. And he's already tough. An NJ HS coach who I have a ton of respect for said to me 2 months ago; "He's a good jump shot away from being at Duke."

Not often do you see all the coaches in these pictures..

Mulcahy is a top priority for the staff. Good reason why.

Mulcahy plays the point though, correct?I have heard he wants to continue that at the next level.

He's multi-talented, where he can play 3 positions and obviously is used to being the primary generator of offense on the HS level. Can he be a lead guard in college and defend lead guards?? I see him as a SF in college that can do a lot of things....someone I trust that understands recruiting at a high level called Mulcahy a "Swiss Army Knife".....that means he can pretty much function in a lot of ways for a program.

Would uncle bob be an asset in this? I know he's been back to the RAC, but he was crushed when he lost the AD job.

Gotcha. Can he take players off the bounce? Not sure.He doesn't have to defend lead guards at all times. He can be shifted on defense.

I like his play a lot. Rutgers would be a great place for him to land.

Great visit on Friday, but obviously a long way to go in this type of recruitment....as Mulcahy's game improves, so should his total number of suitors, but RU doing as much as humanly possible here..

Mulcahy obviously will have plenty of choices for his college career. As a 2O19 recruit his stature will surely rise which pus added pressure on a school like Rutgers to have a winning season this year or they probably will be left out of final consideration.

A jump shot is a big piece of the basketball puzzle though

This season's results will have no impact on Mulcahy and whether RU stays in consideration. RU has already established what the program is building towards. More will depend on what pieces are added in 2018 for recruiting for a 2019 kid to consider being a piece of the puzzle. ..2016-17 or year 1 was the key to success because the roster over achieved and did show progress against better competition. Adding a Mathis with a Doucoure in 2018 is really the path for 2019 kids. ...that only gets off the ground based on last year's progress.

All I know is he had an excellent visit and is a priority. ..that guarantees nothing at the end of the day as far as RU sticking around in the long run for Mulcahy, but I am confident RU will be a factor here....mostly because RU is doing well in 2018 with recruiting.

There is a difference in where RU stands vs past years, we are involved with more quality targets than past RU staffs. That means the other two kids here earlier this week are actually ranked higher on some boards, so it's not all Mulcahy or bust.
