Fires:
RB coach Andy Aurich
OC/TE coach Nunz Campanile. Hes not cut out for oc at this level and you dont fire him but you let him find another job first to save face. The allure of nunz was getting in at the north jersey parochials and thats just never happened.
Hires:
OC: Joe Conlin, Fordham Head Coach. https://rutgers.forums.rivals.com/t...e-conlin-should-be-named-oc-this-week.251718/
Co-Oc/qb coach: Kevin Decker, Fordham OC
RB Coach: Savon Huggins. Hafleys seat is on fire. Jump ship and come home.
This leaves us without a TE coach as one of the 10 assistants that can recruit on the road. I dont see that as a big deal as joe susan can still coach TE’s on the field but just not travel for recruiting. I want extra attention paid to qb. Conlin and decker are masters of offense and decker was a heckuva qb himself in college.
Conlin: 4 years/$900K/yr
Decker: 4 years/$500K/yr
Huggins: 2 years/$275K/yr
By hiring both decker and conlin you have your successor once conlin gets poached. Hypothetically if the interview process plays out that conlin is realistic and its actually decker who is 100% calling the shots at fordham, you make decker the OC and bring his TE coach over with him who helped him install the O. David Weeks who was a student assistant under heupal at ucf.
We need to do this. If we do our offense all of a sudden becomes an attractive sell to portal skill position players and HS recruits. This was the 2nd offense in college football history to average over 600 yards per game. And then even did it vs MAC champion Ohio University! Theyve shown they can out scheme teams who have far superior talent. They’d likely bring a 1,000+ yard receiver or two with them as well.
Transfer QB:
Then you go all in on Donovan Smith QB from texas tech who lost his job but is a very talented qb and his dad is now RB coach for the giants and lives in NJ. Here are donovan smiths highlights vs mississippi state last year in their bowl game when he threw for 252 yards as a frosh. He has 2 years of eligibility left. Hes basically already everything we pray gavin COULD become if he hits his ceiling. Why not just take gavins ceiling?
