He's a recent Michigan St. decommit. Has an official visit to Notre Dame coming up. Definitely a long-shot for RU, but I like this coaching staff's style. Going after it!

Great home visit with Rutgers new staff!

As I posted in a different thread, ND has one EE at WR and commits from two others who are rated higher than Morris. Maybe he'll want a better opportunity to be "the guy"? Obviously it's tough to go up against ND anytime.

BTW, Rivals has him as 3*, not 4*

We're all so incredibly desperate to land even a half-decent prospect at this point that this actually is newsworthy. Something that top tier programs do all the time we are all salivating just that a 4 star would even have our staff in their homes.

Jesus we have a long, long, long way to go.

Grow up. You said like a two year old.

Nobody is salivating. People are excited about a new name in the busy recruiting period.

Could be a Coleman type get. He would fit in nicely. And let's not forget having a qb like Rettig available now to throw to him is potentially exciting.

There have been threads about in-home visits for 2 and 3-star kids, the last few years, and you're gonna bitch about fans getting excited over a 4-star who just dumped MSU?

Put the bottle down man lol!

Damn yo, relax.

I didn't know we had a staff that has been coaching at RU for like 3 years and has beaten teams like Michigan, Michigan St, and Ohio State consistently. Hell, we haven't even beaten TTFP yet. So, they don't have the relationships built in with the top NJ recruits.
Q
Our staff has only been together as a staff a couple of weeks AND they have to work against the environment and culture created by the old staff. That is tough to work against. So, yes, we are excited about getting top recruits to look at what we have to offer, especially if they chose to make an official visit. Are we not allowed to do that? Such a Debbie Downer

the responses so far from the HS coaches and recruits have been very positive so far. Also, the mods, have been very complementary of the staff and how hard they are working.

I see an extremely bright future for this staff and our team and yes, recruiting wise, things will move quick to NSD and we will see the staff put together a decent collection of recruits.

I am salivating at the thought of this staff working together to recruit and what they can do with the 2017 recruits. When this team puts together some solid wins against top competition combined with the work ethic of this staff on the recruiting front, our team is gonna explode!!

That would be great if Rutgers could get Jonah Morris... he is versatile (WR/DB/OLB).

From what I heard, Morris supposedly decommitted from Michigan State because he preferred to play WR but the Spartans wanted him for defense because Dantonio already has a hella incoming WR stable in their 2016 class (four 4-star 2016 WR commits).

Like many Michigan fans, I'm not fond of Notre Dame, and I don't want to see the Irish get Jonah Morris.

I hope Rutgers gets Morris!

GO BLUE!

I agree with Masice. I don't think he was putting anyone down for being happy about this, but rather that we aren't getting in with enough 4 star guys. I don't want to this to be big news, I want this to be just another weekend in the long line of weekends we hear about top guys hearing from Rutgers.

Well, the fact is that this staff has only been recruiting for RU for a couple of weeks. Also, tie it in with how many 4 stars has Flood been able to reel in? Patrice Rene was the only one for this recruiting class and I think Barnwell was the most recent and he is gone cause he was an idiot. So, being happy that our current staff is getting positive feedback from some 4 star's is pretty damn good news for RU.

Also, this current staff has been communicating with a bunch of top athletes, but this late in the recruiting cycle for the 2016 class, many are already committed or have had multi-year relationships with other staffs. Our coaches are doing a hell of a job with trying to build those relationships under the RU flag within just the past couple of weeks. The recruits that have been mentioned the past week or so are typically those that the staff has had a past relationship with during their previous coaching jobs, or are top recruits in NJ, where the staff is trying to build a relation with a school and coach.

Hells yea we want for this to be the norm for our team, but is hasn't been yet. Until it is the norm, we as a fanbase will think highly of any good news that comes our way because he mods have stated that many recruits and their families read the message boards and if we have a positive fanbase, that resonates better than a negative or apathetic fanbase.

The drawback of the new forum setup is that it allows trolls like this to pretend to be RU fans without us knowing where he came from...

Just wondering what kind of loser do you have to be to make the effort to do this?

I'll take a guess
Michigan fan?

why does masice sound like some other poster? I cant think of who but the type of responses just sound so familiar...

Yes, he is.

Word has it is he is not a "take" for the top 4 schools he had listed previously, hence this message. Sounds like he has some academic issues to address. More than likely goes JUCO/prep school route.

ND was not going to take him as a WR; if anything, ND would have taken him as a LB even though he wants to play WR. In any event, his visit to ND has been cancelled. He doesn't have the grades for ND. I have heard what another poster above says--none of his top schools will take him.

That has got to give us an edge in getting him. Hope he has good enough grades to get into RU

I got a lot of heat for my comments and probably deservedly so. I guess it's just frustration. I want to see 4 and 5 stars like we saw at the tail end of Schiano regime and the last 3-4 recruiting hauls have been terrible.

It's also annoying to see u guys hype these average recruits over and over. Granted, a few of them could be diamonds in the rough, but let's be serious. Some of you act like a kid who has offers from Dartmouth and Tulane will be big time players here. It's just gonna take patience I guess. I have faith in this Ash guy, so we shall see.

Appreciating what you have but at the same time wishing and hoping for something better is an art lost in today's society, in particular, with many of today's youths.

Guys, guys, guys please stop! He's right, in this day and age a visit is not enough. If Ash and company refuse to schedule sleepovers we're not going to land these kids.
