I think guys can still register for the tournament through tomorrow. However, let's assume the list above (from Kozak at Flo) is accurate as to the Flo ranked guys already registered. Dean and Yara are the highest ranked guys in their weight class. Dylan has two really good guys ranked ahead of him, Joey has three guys ranked ahead of him but close to his ranking, Soldano and Poz each have two higher ranked guys ahead of them. Of the six RU wrestlers listed by me I would like to see all six get to the semifinals with at least three guys winning championships. The other four starters (Clark, Harer, White, and Turley) each have a chance to have a good showing and improve their ranking. This also holds for guys like SCW and Cetta.

Kozak's preview and prediction article has the following predictions:

Peterson 1st 125
Shawver 3rd 133
Olivieri 2nd 141
White 3rd 165
Soldano 2nd 184
Poz 4th 197
Yara 1st HWT

I don’t know what happened to the Midlands but like 5-10 years ago you’d have multiple guys in each weight class that were AA’s and in many cases multiple guys that would win national titles.

Midlands got diluted by CKLV and Southern Scuffle. Iowa no longer goes to Midlands as they have Soldier Salute now. PSU has stopped going to these tournaments altogether it seems.

Yup, very weak the last few years. The Southern Scuffle basically the same time weakened the Midlands and then Iowa(who were huge Midlands supporters) started the Soldier Salute tournament further diluting Midlands.

Wow kozak’s predictions are very generous for us… 7 top 4 finish and 4 finalist..

PSU seems to be leading the current meta— to wrestle as few as possible and just make it to nationals…

Until the sport does something to incentivize the regular season, there’s no reason for them to do anything else. Penn State is in a unique situation where they don’t need money, their fans aren’t going anywhere, and their practice room is more of a challenge for the wrestlers than a typical dual opponent or tournament entry list.

Goodale was in Phoenix for the bowl on Thursday. Sounds like he got a lot of Frequent Flyer miles

CKLV has been around for 43 yrs, so it's not that. The main reasons are there are many more tourneys now, especially with the addition of the dual tourneys/events, and load management, as teams want to keep wrestlers healthy.

It looks like Peterson will get McGowan from Princeton (Blair) in the next round. Very interesting matchup
Peterson needs to win this tournament or at the very least get to the finals or he’ll look like a total clown showing up with red dyed hair

Cetta went big and almost went home 10 secs into 1st round
He is down 7-1....lets see how he bounces back

What on earth are these stall calls in the Harer match? He got called for a stall while in the middle of an escape and it ends up being the difference in the match

They were horrible but the match never should have been that close or come down to that. He has looked very bad the last month and not someone who is going to contribute in the B1G.
He has shown no offense from his feet. Hes solid on Mat is slower then opponents most of time. If he doesnt develop more on feet will not be a contributor at all. Still early on though. Should have RS’ed
