The first spring game between Rutgers and its alumni was April 22, 1950. Harvey Harman coached against athletic director George Little who had 30 former players from the previous four seasons. It took Harman’s team a score in the last quarter to win 13-7 before 1,200. The alumni won 35-13 the next year. On April 18, 2009 the “Scarlet” beat the “White” 31-3. Proceeds from the game went to the pediatric units of Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and St. Peter’s University Hospital. Four days later a dozen players visited patients at the Bristol-Myers Squibb Children’s Hospital at Robert Wood handing out tee-shirts and posters according to an April 21, 2009 scarletknights.com posting. The Scarlet beat the White 31-14 on April 30, 2011 and the following issue of the Targum reported a record crowd of 21,120.
