According to IU fans: Rutgers' guards s*ck

I did see several people in the stands wearing their Clown pants. Again it looked like the Ringling Brothers Three Ring Circus.

Anyone who watched Corey last night and thinks he sucks shouldn't have the right to discuss basketball.

Fans react to what is happening at a given point in time.Sanders in the first ten minutes did not score and that was a main reason for the double digit Indiana lead.At the last eight minutes of the first half Sanders and Freeman led Rutgers all the way back to a lead which they maintained for most of the second half.Sanders is the best player on the team and he gets the applause and the criticism based on how he and the team is performing. Its human nature how fans react to good and bad times.

good, we need another rivalry! If we could make something of PSU, MD, and Indy that would be great.

(unlike football, I happen to like the PSU bball team).
You would have a really, really, REALLY difficult time convincing the average Maryland fan that Rutgers and Maryland should be rivals.

I think Maryland fans would look at Rutgers as just another conference game on the schedule that they want to win because it's a conference game but not because it's rival. Probably similar to how they looked at Wake Forest or Clemson or Georgia Tech back when Maryland was in the ACC

I will say that overall. the atmosphere is different with the Big 10 schools than with the Big East schools, cannot exactly put my finger on it but there is a noticable difference. Overall attendance was quite strong for a 2nd round game and this tourney is already a success before it even has hit the quarterfinals...Delaney vindicated.

Noticed the same. BE tourney has a much more gritty, NY feel. Mid-West people are a different breed. They have a different sensibility and they live and die with their team to a point that's a little unhealthy. But then again, so do I! Definitely enjoyable though. I had only pleasant interactions.
And although I loved that the tourney came to the Garden, it probably belongs in Chicago/Indianapolis but this is nice. If Rutgers keeps trending up, maybe it happens again and the Garden becomes our home court.

Exactly correct.. IU BBALL is a cult. They do think they are basketball royalty.. and one time they were. Sad thing is I suspect the General (Knight) won without cheating using boot camp discipline.. which has gone out of style.

And we have learned that most of the "top programs" cheat their asses off. So it is unlikely that we will see a restoration of IU to royalty of college bball. And didn't they get rid of a coach who was cheating?

And all we are aiming to do at this point is crash the royal ball.. sometime soon.

As I heard people saying last night..

SUCK IT INDIANA

Any Purdue fan could have told you all about this :)

Here's the problem: I've been on an anti-Purdue kick since this this Emergency Room PA ****ed me over....and well, yeah, she made by blood, dare I say, "boil"???

[cheers]

Indiana is one weird place. Creepiest state in the union IMO.

Agreed. Among other things, few realize that the KKK was as influential there as it was in Alabama back in the day. I had a meeting in a manufacturing plant there year's ago and even in the '90s they were marveling that I was an Eye-talian. Never seen one of those before!

Well, we did manage to beat the Purdue football team this year, so.......

More fans in their school colors, from what I recall, and not as many "subway alumni" types/lurkers OTHER THAN, from what I could tell watching yesterday, Michigan's "Walmart" fans. Lots of people cheering for them BUT very light on "Hail To The Victors." I mean we kinda already know this about them, anyway, just pointing it out.

Yes, understand the feeling. It would have to build if we could challenge them for important standings in fb, bb, and lax. Will/would definitely take time to build. Plus no natural hate there.

Curious as to where this plant was. I can say a couple things regarding your perception of the state. There are certainly areas that might meet this description, and even more so the further back you go, but I've lived here my entire life and I think those places are maybe a few average-sized towns in the southern part of the state. Indianapolis and the northern half of the state have never really been like that to my recollection.

yet Indiana dies for NJ and other northeast h.s. students to attend their school

Yea... Hell, mom's family is South Bend Italian.....

Even after losing IU fans can't get over the fact Sanders and Geo outplayed IU guards in every way tonight. Instead, they are reaching for any and every excuse to fool themselves into thinking the game was a fluke. It's all so funny to hear this. I recall reading the same sh*t on Minnesota's board as well as Wisconsin's board too.[roll][roll][roll][cheers]

Have you read or heard anything from IU fans?
I went onto the IU free board, 90+% of the posts claim we’re terrible, horrible, worse team in the B1G, and they were not ready, played like sh*t, they beat us by 35 in our building, that Sanders only move is dribble in, quick switch to the right for a fade jump shot.
Several posters pointed out the injuries we had during the earlier meeting, and that we are a team that either plays well, or poorly

I went out there for the football game and I liked their fans and that was pre-game and pre rout. Perfectly friendly. Underrated campus and town. Unlike State College and Ann Arbor still has a Collegiate and less sanitized/homogenized/ Star Bucks feel.

alot of these fans though are alums who rarely get to see the team play live...not the hardest of hardcore...the PSU fans are PSU fans but not necessarily PSU hoops fans, girls more interested in drinking $12 beers than watching the game.

IU fans were salty last night for sure! It was entertaining to watch. The smug giddiness early on by a few sitting near us quickly turned to frustration and disbelief.

Heading back tonight and hoping our fans show up... weather be damned!

They were looking forward to the showdown with Purdue
