After an 0-for October , Schiano isn’t Mr. November

Context is a game for losers. Nobody was coming to take Greg away deo RU. That's the only thing that mattered at the time. He got the reward he earned by winning a bowl @ bonus. This knee jerk, lemming BS must stop. But it won't.
How do you know no one was interested in Greg? There are a lot of schools with highly overpaid coaches out there.

The amount of hyperbole after a bad stretch is comical, but we are timid compared to other fanbases.
Because we are used to it and hardened
The difference in bad stretches for us go years , sometimes a decade or so. Other fanbases a bad stretch is a couple weeks or couple years.

I haven’t felt that in any game. We closed to one score in the 3rd qtr. They still were hitting hard if they made contact and were trying.
while they have not necessarily quit in these games the problem is the games seem over at the beginning, the team has no confidence and comes out getting their doors blown off from the get go. I do not know how Greg can get that back..its 3 games in a row. They may have been down 8 but this was never ever ever a game

Wow 2-15 in Nov?? That’s actually a crazy record to see.
So Nov has an UnThanksgiving for R-U. FB too bad.But acceptable .During last nights game I. came to realize that my love affair for RU F B was over.Interest ,Yes but Love has gone on it's fickle way.No more bass drum beating of my heart no more flushed face no more sour stomachs.I came to a realization that I was just watching a game, played by very young people and that Life will go on ,win or lose. Sure I would rather we win but it seems as if RU is destined to not have a consistently successful FB team and I suggest to all present not to wait the many years that I did but accept the reality that we have good Women' s. Soccer teams from time to time and be happy for that. FB has a very long way to go before it will bring you the same happiness.

If it’s one score, can’t say we were not in the game. However, I agree that we can only get close. The O can’t do it when it matters. AK pad the stats when the game is out of reach.

The large extension puts him at 12th highest paid in the league? Context matters
What happens if we had in the coordinators and support staff in charge of development? Now RU is in the top 3 and getting ZERO results. Context

it was never a game...yes possessions were limited but we were not stopping them...no one actually thought we could outscore them. It would have to be something flukish to pull off a win...Schiano got lucky with Michigan State last year...the game was a disaster and we got a lucky bounce and won that game but if we didnt???

what is the attendance going to look like for Minnesota and Illinois...likely noon games....we are talking 30K or so, I think even the ticket office will not say expecting 35K

If it matters, me and @The RUT felt we were in the game. We were holding down the fort with some yardbird Trojan fans chirping. As has been the pattern, bad, explosive plays with poor tackling kept setting RU back. The tackling is extremely concerning.

UCLA got lucky we were depleted. It goes both ways. In MSU game, we got the bounce but that didn’t win the game for us. We still have to execute and make plays after that to win.

I still want to be you when I grow up. But I may throw in the towel sooner than 41 years from now. This would be me:

Makes sense when you consider how little depth there always is on the roster.

I wonder if teams should start scheduling an OOC in Nov.
People make fun of the SEC but it makes sense.

Because of depth being worse (for everyone) at the end of the year.

Imagine playing Maryland early in Sept with fewer injuries and then playing Akron in 3 weeks when we don't need as much depth to win.

Just a thought.

You know me and my complaints about long term obligations off short term results and first sign of something positive. Things can turn and you have to leave yourself a reasonable out just in case.

It’s not a Rutgers thing though. It’s a college athletics thing. ADs and OPM. Fiduciaries don’t treat or think about money and resources as if its their own. If they did you wouldn't see all these crazy one sided deals.

USA Today has his buyout at 28.6M. His first contract had a RU buyout to be 76.875% of his remaining money but not to to exceed 24.6M. So this new 28.6M figure might be something similar. I don't know. Even that figure though if it's the number for the next few years would be the 2nd highest ever paid to date. Fisher is 1 at 75M and Malzah at Auburn was 2 at just under 22M. So just have to hope things turn because it doesn't seem feasible or realistic.

@Fat Koko usually has a good idea of contract details/finances with his open records requests so he might know.
Contracts of Rutgers sports coaches are available on the internet. Open records requests are not needed to get these documents; this is a myth promoted by several TKR posters.

I described this here in post #32 last month.

This is the termination language in Greg's contract:

"In the case of termination without cause by the University (which shall be by written notice to you), the University, on a bi-weekly basis consistent with the University’s regular payroll, will continue to pay Head Coach an amount equal to 76.875% of Head Coach’s total remaining Annual Base Salary (including scheduled increases)"

Based on Greg's salary schedule, his buyout if he was fired today would cost $29,128,253. The $28.6 million USA Today figure is accurate if Greg is fired on December 1, 2024. That is the date USA Today chose to calculate buyouts. Greg's current contract does not include a buyout cap.

well our delusional fanbase actually had us competing for a playoff spot, i mean we have a segment truly delusional
It wasn’t just the delusional fanbase. At 4-0 with two solid P5 wins, we earned it. But no one saw that all 4 wheels would fall off at once. Everyone off the hype train.

Always just one possession away from making it interesting. Once Monangai went down the 3rd(?) time it was over. Was good meeting you last night

im talking about before the season started, people pencilling in wins over everyone without dealing with realities of the situation and yes injuries happen all the time. even at 4-0 its sort of foolish to think playoffs.,,we dont have the talent or coaching for that

He’s alive haha. We went out in Hermosa Beach after the game, no clue how he made it.

Shocked you guys put up with him the whole time lol
I don't drink at all. But I love hanging around drinkers. In Wisconsin after game, some random guy sat down at our bar table, shitfaced, and it turned out he was from Jersey and loved Rutgers (like your friend). My wife and the others in our party tried to leave several times. I kept talking with him, and he was much worse off than your buddy. My wife said to me last night that she never wants to see me drinking and she would not bail me out of prison, because I would be way out of control..

Last night was the most fun I have had a losing game in a long time. Up there with the PSU shellacking at home that I spent with @e5fdny . Good times.

lol you might owe her a nice dinner out for putting up with him.

Definitely an awesome time, unfortunate they couldn’t get the win but happy I made the trip

Mrs Shift is a saint. I have to remind her of my 1 or 2 great personal traits to ignore my thousands of faults. We have a lot of fun together, and she is a good sport. She thought last night was hilarious.

Glad you both had a great time. And nice pic of the hike. Hope that was as fun as Pat said it was.

Need a split in November to salvage anything this season.
Schiano 2.0 is 2-15 in November.
The fixes for this program are not going to happen this season . Listening to Greg’s presser after the game I am reading in between his words and demeanor that the problems we have can only be fixed after the season . Coaches , players , strategy and NIL will all have to addressed off season .

So …what do we do with schiano ?
Can we trade him for a truckload of bourbon, beer, hookers and blow ? Just open up the lots on Saturdays for the next few years for big parties where nobody ever goes in. Sure would be a hell of a lot more fun.

Even more disappointing was considering all the excitement the Seniors coming back this season to be a part of the “Dark Side” defense. It was dark last night alright but for the wrong reasons.
The Dark Side defense is in the dark when it comes to defending opposing offenses.

This could be the team's coming out of the tunnel song

How about We Are Family by Sister Sledge for the entrance theme. Greg likes to describe the program using the family moniker. The Pittsburgh Pirates adopted the tune in 1979 and won the World Series that year. The lyrics are simple to remember.

While watching the Morrissey video, I recognized the setting as Death Valley, the desert, not the LSU football stadium. Strongly recommend a visit to Death Valley National Park. Perhaps fans attending the Las Vegas basketball tournament can take a day trip. The Strip is only two hours by car from the national park's visitor. Much closer than Grand Canyon where Vegas visitor prefer to go, and Death Valley is just as beautiful in my opinion.
