Ahmed Bah Decommits

We have plenty of open schollies, we had a bunch of guys kicked off the team before the season which opened up a bunch of schollies not sure if you've heard about that whole thing.
yes i know but isn't 25 the yearly limit and we already had 18 IIRC...7 or 8 ain't many...I'd like to see 10-12 picked by the new staff but wouldn't force the promising and loyal kids to decommit unless its in their best interest.

I'd hope that we'd save some and wouldn't extend offers just to get warm bodies. If Ash can close on some top recruits in the final months, great, but if not, I don't want him taking a bunch of two-star "diamonds in the rough" ("The Kyle Flood Special") just because we have the space. I'd like to see what he can do with a boatload of scholarships for the class of 2017.

I'd imagine he probably has a bunch of kids in mind that maybe he liked a lot but couldn't sell to Ohio State. I definitely wouldn't mind having some out the blue mid west recruits show up.

When you take into consideration grey shirts, et al, there's always a way to get back up to 85.

Flood has done a great job evaluating talent and the commits we have are B1G quality. We are only lacking top end 4 star talent from the class. Yes there is the 25 limit but we also have early enrollees that count against last year.

Ash is not stealing any kids from OSU so I'm not sure where you expect them to find 10 quality B1G players from this late in the cycle.

I just watched Bah's senior tape and was blown away by how much he improved from last year. This kid can play in the B1G and in a spread offense.

Best of luck to Bah. Hope he finds the right school for him no matter where that happens to be so that he can succeed in football and life.

I would expect we'll see a number of transfer after this semester. We usually do anyway but there may be more than usual.

His physical attributes remind me of Tim Wright, tall receiver with good speed but not great speed. He could bulk up into a hybrid WR/TE like Funchess from michigan or even an Hernandez type of player.

I for one hope he signs with RU!

I thought the same thing. We have lots of TE's right now. I wonder how many a spread team carries.

No need to beat up on him. He is opening up his recruiting again after a coaching change. Be careful what you post, he might end up coming here anyway, and then you just look foolish.

Good luck Ahmed, unless you end up playing against Rutgers. :)

I see the crystal ball on 247 has a recent prediction for Fuller to Rutgers but still a OSU lean. There also Maurice French, WR, 5'11 probably slot WR , New Brunswick committed to Pitt in June but now have several predictions to Rutgers.

Coach Ash has this. Recruiting will be fine, as we will see. The most important piece is in place. The rest will follow.

Good luck to Bah, whever he decides to go.

WOW....then lets hope we can reel him back in.....NYC kids can be fickle.

Bah is probably a nice guy and player....but, Spread offenses needs fast, shifty guys that excel in open space. Bah is a 6'4" . . Ash called commits yesterday....maybe he does not fit with the new offense.

I wish him the best of luck.
only need players like that at the slot wr position.

Some recruits commit because they like the HC and loses interest in the school if that coach leaves.
Some have other schools get in their ear and make them decide to start looking at other schools.
It doesn't really matter why, once a HC leaves the school , things have changed from when the kid committed and he shouldn't be faulted for wanting a do-over.

I hate to break it to everyone but I don't see Ash bringing in a ton of high star kids this cycle. He's not going to bring anyone from tOSU over with him and he's late to the game with most of the top 4/5 stars in NJ.

I could see him bringing in Fuller because of a past relationship and securing Rene from decommitting. Both are great. But the fact that everyone thinks Bah is done from this class or even Reynolds is untrue. I could see him winning over Hewitt also. VT lost Beamer so we are right there with them.

He's not going to pull Gary, Walker, Guarantano, Hawkins, Johnson and Mitchell. These top flight kids are done. If he could keep this class together, maybe lose one or two kids in process, but keep mostly together and get some high three stars to wrap up the class from kids we don't even know about now, it's gravy. His effect will be on the next class with Hansard and Carter Warren and Jack Coan. That's who he will effect.

And for the record, he will kick ass next year. I have no doubt in my mind. Kids in the STATE OF RUTGERS will want to run through a wall for him. They will see his passion up against Harbaugh and Franklin and he will beat those guys in recruiting the RUTGERS player.

A quote from Toddrick Hunt's NJ.com article leads toward your speculation:

"I spoke with my parents, they wanted to wait until signing day but Rutgers is still my top choice," said Bah

NJ.COM link, so don't click it if it is against your principles. http://www.nj.com/rutgersfootball/i...et_wide_receiver_ahmed_bah_decomitts_fro.html

He also said the following: "I spoke with the head coach from Rutgers and told him I'm making my final decision on signing day. I've decommitted."

What is the world coming to when unranked, 3 star guys are holding out until Signing Day ? Mom needs to rethink this because all the good spots will be gone and he will have to go to Eastern Kentucky , New Mexico State or UCONN. NO WAY should Ash hold a spot for him until Signing Day.

I say it's time to move on to someone else. I like the suggestion from Arkon Buck....go after some WR's that wanted to go to OSU but just missed the cut for an offer....they get to play in the B1G and get some payback for OSU not offering them.

There are a lot of Ohio recruits that are very good that end up at Cinn, BC, Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Bowling Green, Illinois and Kentucky. We never get any Ohio recruits and I think that changes.

As DC, I am sure Ash read every Ohio State scouting report and has his own notes for every Top D recruit in the country. Each new staff person he brings will add to that list. Given how he seems to have been preparing for a HC move for quite some time, I would not be surprised if he doesn't have notes from the other side of the ball especially since a lot of kids play 2 way. I am sure EJ has given him the management summary of all our recruits and our targets including the ones we missed and the likelihood of turning some. Recruiters do not say goodbye when they commit to another school, not always. It's too bad he only has about 2 months, recruiting will be so much more exciting going forward.
