How deep does the B1G go in its All-Conference teams: First Team, Second Team, Honorable Mention, All Freshmen?

You think we’d have candidates in this (or actual) scenario?

I'd thing Eugene makes Honorable mention. No chance our freshman make the team.

Brazedkis
Jalen Smith
Langford
Wesikamp
Kalschuer
Oturu
Ayala
Muhammed
Dread

Maybe Mathis is #10

I think if Geo finishes strong, he could be in the HM range, espe. if we win a couple more. I think the frosh have been outstanding, but unless it's a ten player list I don't see an All-Frosh player, closest is probably MM.

Mathis is the only one close to making an all freshmen team and its less than likely he does. The others have zero chance of making it nor should they be on it

Eugene and Geo could show up on a third team or honorable mention list

After last night I believe Harper should be in the mix for All-B1G Freshman.

I don't think he'll get there because it really does matter that guys like Dosunmu, Langford, and Brazdeikis have bigger roles, but he's in the conversation.

Ayo Dosunmu
Romeo Langford
Ignas Brazdeikis
Joe Wieskamp
Jalen Smith

Would be my team right now. If they did a second team it'd be:

Myles Dread
Gabe Kalscheur
Ron Harper
Giorgi Bezhanishvili
Daniel Oturu

Of those five, Giorgi B is closest to the first team (he and Jalen Smith is a coin toss) but honestly at this point I think I'd take Harper over any freshman at the 3 besides Brazdeikis and Wieskamp.

We have four freshmen contributing at a high level. This decreases the chances of any one of them standing out. A nice problem to have.

Also, off topic......

Harper made 3s and took it to the basket against the pourous Iowa D and score 27 huge points. VERY important!

Mathis did the heavy lifting. Harper did fine defensively, but Mathis was the primary reason a powerful offense was shut down.

If defense could be made equivalent to offensive scoring Mathis had a 40 point night.

I believe Mathis , due to his lock down defense should get a nod for all frosh. He is usually assigned the hardest assignment and locks them down all the while contributing in many ways. Harper is showing he can be a dominant scorer in this league his progression is amazing and the 3 ball is getting pretty.

Splits for big ten games, (Pts, RB, Asst, Steals)

Harper:
9.1875 / 3.375/1/ 0.5625

Mathis:
11.875 / 4 /1.375 / 0.5625

Harper and Mathis will both big on all big teams multiple times imo.

I promise you the people voting for all-freshman teams will not take defense into account. It's unfortunate but it is what it is.

Our S&C trainer should make the all B1G trainer team (and not because of the recent article)...he is awesome (even though he's a PSU grad...lol)

Mathis is also pretty high on the other teams' scouting reports, and as a result has taken a lot of pressure off Geo and allowed our offense to improve a lot. funny... Mathis' 18 was almost an afterthought in the Minnesota game due to Geo's late takeover.

Harper is awesome too. Caleb put up 24 against Illinois... the future is bright.
