There is a pecking order. OSU, Michigan, etc take from schools like PSU. PSU takes from RU. RU takes from UConn. lt's the way it's been for a long time. Nothing will change till the perception changes and that in my opinion is the most difficult job Ash has ahead of him.

It says that whatever inroads Schiano made were thrown into the dumpster fire that was ol you know who. While not exactly going back to square one, Ash has his hands full just getting RU back to classes ranked better than 40th.

it's only a punch in the gut if you refuse to understand the reality of the current situation RU is dealing with. It's a major uphill battle that will take time. Hell, Ash said as much when he was hired.

Actually, my comments stem from a lament I read recently on BWI ... it's the way your fans feel about your recruiting.

PSU was in the Top 10 in recruiting a few months ago; 21 doesn't sound so good.

Rutgers doesn't need to beat PSU in recruiting to beat them in the field ... Temple beat PSU this past year w/o any recruits who were offered by PSU (at least none who made a difference in the game). Franklin's coaching is the great equalizer, lol.

To your gut, maybe. Shelton is a marginal recruit, didn't even make top 50 in Ohio. Quite a comedown for PSU from the likes of Dioubate and even Dwumfour, who both decommited from PSU. Things are not trending well for the Pedd Supporters.

Late breaking news ... mktman is a Pedd Supporter, only posts here to mock Rutgers when the subject is Penn State related.

mktman - you may be in denial, but the PSU recruiting is now in a downhill trajectory. They have lost more good recruits than they have gained over the past 5 months. That's how you go from a top 10 class to #21.

Sure, RU is struggling, but that's to be expected with a brand new HC who's been recruiting for the school full time for less than one month. Even Harbaugh struggled last year, but this year he is kicking ass.

Many of Flood's recruits, whom he worked with for multiple years, had similar offer lists. Let's not worry too much about filling a class, right now, at positions of need.

Rutgers isn't a name brand, PSU has a name that recruits recognize and now the Penn St football program are being talked up like a power in the BIG by some so called experts , the HS players they are targeting will be willing to listen to what the Nits have to offer and may times consider it a better one than what RU promises them.
Until Ash makes recruits think RU FB is going to be a top B1G program, the Nits will have the recruiting advantage .

So HS talent from OHIO shouldn't be a cause to panic this recruiting class.
Give Ash time to show he can win as the RU HC and you'll see kids like this headed RU's way more and more.

So not flaming or anything but penn state's recruiting class is currently ranked #21 by rivals... I understand the coach transition at Rutgers this year so it is certainly an unfair comparison however you all are talking about how pen state recruiting is crashing and burning...

Rutgers' BANNER class of 2012 had a final rivals ranking of #24. So you all are talking about how far penn state is tumbling when they still have a higher ranked class than the best class Rutgers has ever had?
