Anybody else dislike the PAC12 series?

Why? Those teams would help since they are in recruiting areas that make sense for us. Playing the PAC 12 teams is nice due to the Rose Bowl affiliation, but not sure recruiting nationally is in the plans for us in the near future.

Because I have no interest in playing a glorified Big East OOC schedule every year. I'm a fan, not a coach, so I want to see interesting games, not games that will maybe, possibly, some day land us a recruit. I have no problems mixing in some ACC teams in Florida and the like, but no interest in watching all "[big] east rivalries" all the time.

Selfishly, PAC games are easier for me to travel to and the timing lines up better with my schedule, but that's very secondary to the other reasons stated.

PAC teams vs B1G teams during the regular season has been going on for decades now .. and I mean going back to pre WW2. The ONLY school that never caught on to this was Penn St.
I realize that but this is a totally new experience for Rutgers. Maybe after we've been to the Rose Bowl for the first time I'll feel differently. I don't know, just a weird concept in my head that the Rose Bowl would feel that much more special if we hadn't ever played a PAC-12 team.

As far as that other team that you mentioned, it's a known fact (especially during the time when the guy with the hidden away statue was running the show) that they never want to leave their stadium. I think the last offer Rutgers got back in the day was "You play here 4 times and we'll play you once at Giants Stadium."
Speaking of cherries :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:, I know you are from Alaska, Dawg, but I'm almost done with my 3rd bag of Washington cherries. They are REALLY delicious this year.

Bing cherries from Washington ... I miss the hell out of those. I used to eat so many when I was a kid that I'd get gut aches on a regular basis.

I can understand all this being new to RU people. It's going to take some time getting used to. In the mean time try to get out to one of the games out west. RU's next two away games vs the PAC are @ Husky Stadium (Seattle) and The Rose Bowl (Los Angeles).

Clemson, Florida St, NC State, North Carolina are glorified Big East team? I would love to play them in scheduled series. Also, what's wrong with playing Virginia Tech and the U again? He only mentioned BC, and that's probably because he is from Boston. Based on the other tread sounds like Ash is not so big on west coast trips either.

Rutgers is scheduled to play Va. Tech and Miami soon. FSU and Clemson are the only other teams worth playing right now. Most of the ACC has gone out of their way to bury, devalue and dehumanize Rutgers the last 15 years.

Here's another thing to think about if you're a dope smoker.... weed is legal in four US states atm: Alaska, Washington, Oregon and Colorado ... three of those states are PAC-12 states.

The entire ACC is the new Big East, thanks to its own leadership. I already said I don't mind scheduling teams here and there, but Moz''s vision is more a nightmare.

The ACC has never done us any favors, so F them. It's a new Era and I look forward to playing new teams not just rehashes from the past. And it's 2016, kids don't just follow the teams that are covered in the local papers. Yes, beating a good UCLA team or WA team is more impressive than beating BC or Pitt.

Good point! Even if you don't use, just walking into a weed store is a kick in the ass! Who would have thought?

I do not like playing Washington the next two years early in the season. Since we will probably face them in the Rose Bowl this season and next, why give them the chance to avenge an early season loss?

"Regional rivalries – if we can find one – would be great," Ash told NJ Advance Media. "The travel out to Washington isn't necessarily a preference because it's a big trip, a hard trips."

Yeah, so I'm a whiner for starting this thread. I guess that makes Chris Ash a whiner too.

I love the Pac 12 games because I love traveling to watch my team play. Seattle is an awesome city we had a great time there while visiting for the Cougars game. If you are into traveling and living life and enjoying Rutgers you love these games.

Compare his comments and tone to yours.

You're still the only whiner.

Would like to see us pairs with the ACC.

Better air times
Cost less to travel
Would just rather play FSU, Clem, Ville, NC State, UNC, Tech, BC, the U, VA Tech. East coast rivalries baby!

*I am a total east coast guy. I don't care what goes on anywhere else. Hey, at least I own it.

The series was due to association between BIG and PAC 12 due to Rose Bowl affiliation.

Remember when fans here couldn't get out of the BE/AAC fast enough, now some of those same fans want to renew rivalries with the same backstabbers. Don't go back because the grass isn't always greener.

Lol, I know. We weren't excited about playing the likes of Temple, Pitt and BC when we played Temple, Pitt and BC every year. And people constantly cried for a tougher OOC schedule and to get out of the terrible Big East/AAC and away from its lackluster teams.

Now we're in the best possible place imaginable. Our OOC includes playing solid, competitive P5 programs from one of the best conferences, as part of one of the best traditions in CFB, and fans are complaining? And pretending we should get charged up about imaginary Temple, Pitt and BC rivalries?

Sometimes our fans need to just stop talking.

Wazzu, now UW, then UCLA? P5 home and homes are great, but I would love then to be against Eastern Time or Central Time teams. These PAC12 games are far as hell, cost a fortune for travel and are televised at crazy hours for an East coast audience. I can't imagine it's great for the PAC12 team when they return either.

Jump on a plane and come out to the game. The airfares are not that bad .
