Should be official in 2 hours. I’m very excited. Even more so since we have such a likable coach and team. Rare moment: I feel lucky to be a Rutgers fan!

The nice thing about these "first in my lifetime" potential events is once you get good basically anything is possible (however remote) from there.Should be official in 2 hours. I’m very excited. Ok, now you guys have me nervous. I thought it was a sure thing based on the last month of games I’ve been watching

A win at Iowa and there will be a post on "can we win the BIG regular season championship."
Call me a conspiracy theorist but we 1) are not remotely close to a Blue Blood and 2) I still think it irks the ESPN-ABC monster (and their affiliated media voters) when we got the golden ticket to the B10 (BTN/Fox) to foil their plans to dominate the NYC market with the addition of Cuse to the ACC that is totally beholden to them.
I think our ranking in the big 2 sports will always be suppressed (just like I think that bogus call against Louisville for the Big East title in football was by design).
I will now remove my tinfoil hat and wait patiently for noon.
Yeah I saw 21 in a few spots... I think I've counted at least 20 votes across 4 ballots so farI saw a few ballots this morning that had us at 21/22. Hopefully that offsets the lazy voters.

Lol A single story negates it all? Ooook. Yes, when hot, we are darlings.Espn ran a nice story on their website about our team a week or so ago. Was the cover story on the b-ball page. So that puts your conspiracy to rest. Nice try.
Fair enough. I'm 51 and feel like I've seen enough to at least be suspicious of the media in this day and age. I'm glad I could give them a chuckle in Bristol.I’m sure this post would cause laughter around the water cooler in Bristol. Is ESPN more aligned with the SEC and ACC, of course. But to the point of suppressing votes for Rutgers of all teams, no. As you said yourself, that’s tinfoil hat stuff.
Chris is still married to that awesome gf!Not to derail this thread, but our starting lineup was something like:
1 Brian Ellerbe
2 Rich Brunson
3 Kevin Black
4 Clarence Tillman
5 Roy Hinson
I think Chris Remley (who had a really awesome gf back then) came off the bench.
In the ‘80 and 81 seasons, Kelvin Troy was our big upperclassman and a beast and was our 4. In the 82 and 83 seasons, John Battle was the underclassman and the off the bench spark plug with his speed and tenacious D.
Great fun back in my school days!
Rankings are fake, they are a constructed thing, like minutes on a clock. I can make a ranking, you can, and the general public has anointed a group of people to do theirs and then combines them to make an AP ranking. But none of it has any positive or negative effect of whether the ball goes in the Orange hoop or not

Nailed it
John battle, Chris Remley, and Chris Neiberlein were the guys off the bench who played with Roy Hinson
Hinson frosh year includes kelvin Troy and Darryl Strickland off the bench with black
Hinson soph has no Darryl Strickland ...but added Clarence Tillman
Not me. We have to continue building a culture of winning, and that includes learning how to win while ahead, not merely behind. Also, it probably helps us in the final rankings that the committee sees we spent some time ranked during the season, not just toward the end, assuming we finish ranked.I actually prefer if they leave us out... Feel the team will have a chip on their shoulder for iowa
