I know how we feel about nj.com links, so I just cut & pasted:
PISCATAWAY - Rutgers Head Football Coach Kyle Flood announced today the suspensions of WR Leonte Carroo, QB Chris Laviano, LB Kevin Marquez, CB Ruhann Peele, and P Tim Gleeson as a result of a curfew violation on Monday night. All of the players were suspended for the first half of the team's opener against Norfolk State with the exception of Gleeson, a punter, who was suspended two full games.
Flood stated that the curfew violation stemmed from a game of Advanced Dungeons & Dragons that went well into the wee hours of Tuesday morning. The game was held in Gleeson's dorm suite on the school's Busch Campus, where a foreign exchange student called campus police after raucous cheering erupted from the suite just past 4:30 a.m.
"I regret that we didn't handle our duties and responsibilities properly with respect to the football team and our curfew," said Carroo when contacted by nj.com. Carroo was recently named as a team captain for the upcoming season and is expected to be an early pick in the 2016 NFL draft. "I lost my cool," admitted the gifted receiver, "but it's terribly exciting when a 15th Level Paladin slays a beholder and finds a Sword of Mighty Disruption along with 800 gold pieces. The +5 enhancement bonus is crazy enough, but that sword even talks to you if a dragon is nearby and stuff."
"The game was fun, but we know we have our responsibilities," echoed Peele. "The Riders of Ruhann will have to disband until after the bowl game. Fortunately, my entire party should recover all of their hit points while resting in the meantime."
Flood was pressed specifically as to why Gleeson was given an additional game and a half suspension. "My understanding is that [Gleeson] was acting in the role of a Dungeonmaster, which indicates a deeper level of involvement with the game," Flood said. "That's why I banged Tim for two games instead of just a half." When pressed further on his thought process, Flood smiled and said, "You would think that being a back-up punter while living on the science and engineering campus is embarrassing enough. Apparently, it's not. Tim had to go for the nerd trifecta and become a Dungeonmaster on my scholarship's dime. But I think the precedent has been set now, and the players know what my expectations are"
With Norfolk State not expected to present any threat to the Scarlet Knights on the field - and with Gleeson being just a punter - the suspensions won't have any practical effect on the season. "It's the little things, though," countered Carroo. "If we don't keep our focus on the season at hand, my Gloves of Ever-Catching aren't going to be able to help this team when I'm needed the most."
And that is a very keen observation from a Level 26 Pass Catcher in the Big Ten Conference.
