Wondering what folks think our team will be like to watch under the new coaches/schemes.
OFFENSE
Will I still have time to go to the bathroom during our offensive drives between the 20's?
Big 12 games make me dizzy and a little bloated.
The strategy of controlling the clock was supposed to work for us in the second half after we built up a lead. If we have a lead in the second half now will we just keep going for it?
Anticipating that our percentage of 3 and outs will go up but nevertheless our scoring drives will increase?
I am thinking we might look something like Indiana without Tevin Coleman? OK so maybe Indiana last year? Boise State gadget plays all game long? Can't say I watched Houston enough to know what Tom Herman's team looked like.
Spread offenses seem like they can look unstoppable and inept, often in the same game. Consistency? Do you have to catch the D napping for it to work.
DEFENSE
I can't call what we had the past few years defense so for comparison's sake, let's say we still had Schiano's defense. I seem to recall frequent blitzes where we would either give up a big play or bull rush the QB to the ground or both! Feast or famine between the 20's and hope to tighten up inside the 20 if we got burned. The result was often some long drives for the opponents where we were trying to create a turnover or mistake to capitalize on. Seems we played aggressively, maybe even too aggressively at times getting flagged for a bunch of penalties.
SPECIAL TEAMS
Special Teams under Schiano always emphasized blocking field goals and punts with great results but less than stellar results in the return game. I guess you can't have it both ways.
I know Ash will play man coverage and wants to blitz with four but beyond that, I really don't know what to expect. Nothing stands stands out to me as memorable from our games against Arkansas where Ash was the D coordinator with respect to their defense. And nothing really stands out to me from Ohio State's defense except for [[[Joey Bosa]]].
I know the ideal is a prolific offense, stingy defense and great special teams but what will be this teams identity that we can look for game after game?
