Remember playing #2 South florida in Rutgers Stadium? Schiano pulled every trick including a fake field goal to win the game. That's what Ash needs to do Saturday night. Pull every trick play in the book. Start the game with an on-sides kick. Fake a field goal. Do whatever it takes for a chance to win.

Yes, it's risky but what does he have to lose? Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Not happening.

I'm 100% for "throwing the book out" there this game. Do whatever it takes Saturday night. Go back to "basics" next Saturday.
That's the spirit! We're not favored, by a lot. So go out there and surprise them! Ambush them with blitzes! Throw long! Open the running lanes for Rob Martin!

Screw PSU. Let's win.

Conservative seems to be his nature. Perfect example was punting fro the opponent's 30 yd line.

It's hard to win when you are over matched on the line of scrimmage. Even if you get creative and put some points up early.. Eventually the weaker opponent wears down and the stronger squad takes. This usually takes place at the line of scrimmage

I wish it was just at the line of scrimmage that we were over matched.
Show me one position where we are better.

I'll take not being down 21+ by the end of the first quarter and beating the spread. At this point, baby steps.

seeing how we've been shut down by top team by 50, I think many agree that play book should be thrown out!

Wont. Cant. That's not part of the Process.

McSorley, Pedd St. 16 tds 5 ints qb rating 145
Rescigno, Rutgers 5 tds. 5 ints qb rating 108

and screw all the numbers, have you seen McSorley play this season ?
If he's not banged up he is very good. Got wheels too.Enjoy the season winding down. Only one more to go.Can't wait to see the improvement next year.

I didnt know Ash had any tricks. And Mehringer doesn't have a book. It's a few pages (ok, maybe just a two sided single page) that he ripped out of Herman's notebook.

So don't get excited.

It feels to me like Ash & co. only play one way. Works great when you have a stable of superior talent. When you don't have that luxury you need to gamble a bit to win, but it just doesn't seem like our staff has that in 'em.
How about some disguised blitzes?
A fake punt?
Block a kick?
Anything!

Those of you calling for fake punts and trick plays forget we have Vince 'The Developer' Okruch as ST coordinator. Any trick play would end up blown.

Did Rutgers ever blitz? Even once? I didn't see it. Don't even get me started about the offense and special teams! Painful to watch.
