Why ouch? I'm surprised Ayres said he doesn't think Ashnault can score on Kolodzik and that Kolodzik will get 2 TDs and Ashnault none. Very odd to put that out there based on the relationship the 2 teams have, which I'm guessing just changed some.
Seriously? Go read Ashnault's response. Ayres should have kept it general and said it'll be a good match but we feel good that Kolodzik will win, instead of Ashnault can't score on him. What's Kolo's coach supposed to say?
If he said anything different, I would be disappointed.
Goodale should've stepped up and said something so AA wouldn't have to.
Exactly. I'm still shocked Ayres said what he said.Nah..Ayers should have kept his mouth shut and Goodale was right staying out of it. If anyone wants to talk it should be the wrestlers and I’m sure you won’t see Kolo opening his mouth.
Let the match do the talking
Ayers turned into a Rider coach. Not what you say about your club partner's wrestlers. Ayers lost his mind. Very disappointing. I lost a lot of respect for him and Princeton.Almost seems like Ayres goading Ash to take bad shots... Saying he has no offense. I assume Ash will simply disregard it.
I'm probably over-thinking this, but his smack talking is a win-win for him.
If Kolodzik wins, they get the team points and it's all good.
If Ashnault wins, he probably anticipates Ashnault to say something, potentially losing a team point for Rutgers, in which case helping out Princeton in a losing effort.
I'm sur eits not as eas
Possible scenario and somewhat agreed if it happens but I think more so than what happened with John Smith (reputation) AA will hopefully finish the match on a winning note and shake hands. If Ayers continues with this narrative and with other opponents then there is a track record. As another pointed out don't be a dumb dumb hurting your club partner in the process. Rivalry already exists (we all hate PU) and Kolo goes about his business as does AA so let the wrestling speak for itself.
Who is we all? There is nothing to hate about Princeton or their coaching staff. Ayers comments were too specific but generally respectful towards Ashnault. They were more about promoting his wrestler’s strengths and he never put down Ashnault’s skills. Yes, it should be turned into bulletin board material/used as motivation but It doesn’t make Ayers a heel.
This a good take. Some serious overreactions going on over his comments. Guy is trying to build up hype for the match. Judging by the fervor on the board, he did a good job.Chris is a good guy and has done a great job getting Princeton to where they are today. He has some very talented kids and they will give us all we can handle Sunday. If he feels his kid is that good I have no problem him stating that fact. Those two are 2-2 against each other so this is the rubber match. Wouldn’t it be cool if they met in the NCAA finals?
