Good find, al.

In fairness, in 2022, Tanner Morgan played too and was 6/8. Athan was 6/12 for 137 yards. Athan had 3 rushes for 27 yards. Minnesota also had Mo Ibrahim, who accounted for 2 TDs.

In 2023, Nebraska was coached by Rhule for his first year.
Athan had a decent day, 24/44 for 196 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT, and Nebraska held Minnesota to 55 yards of rushing. Athan spread the ball around, mainly to 3 receivers.

Good stuff.

THRICE Will be Better than Twice

Thank you for trolling my thread
Hey Fieldhouse Al of La Mancha…..still a 6’ 230 fearsome Adonis posing for photos and attracting babes in Central Park ?

How many people asked you for photos and autographs yesterday thinking you were Brock Lesnar ?

Or did you stay home to watch your fantasy beau Wimsatt pad his Heisman path by beating UMiss all by himself ?

UMiss him dearly, don’t you Fieldhouse Al ? In your fantasies, which uniform does he wear ?

At this point you guys are trying to bully this man. Lol what is wrong with his post? It's good information..

Interesting fact, but it doesn’t have too much bearing on this year. But it’s always good to have a QB enter a game with confidence.
Our QB Previously Playing well in a hostile environment bodes very well for our prospects this Saturday. Nebraska is a different type of venue, with more intensity, not unlike the Swamp at Florida.

Some kids can’t handle the pressure. Not only did he handle the pressure, he excelled, throwing for 137 yards in the 2nd half, to bring his team back from a 10 point halftime deficit to achieve a 20 point victory, leading his team to scoring 20 points. This after replacing the ineffective starter.

Shelby needs a time out for personal attacks.

Shelby answering Fieldhouse Al’s ‘ready to throw down’ pathetic threat. His usual “look at me” macho bravado invited the ridicule.

Go back to your teams board & rejoice over their convincing win over Holy Cross High School. Sadexcuse is on the rise with this hard fought win

Ill say this…..Al consistently annoys me with his takes on this board….actually drives me nuts…..and I’ve responded negatively quite often……this however is a very solid assessment…..Athan having the experience of going into that raucous environment and winning is huge in my opinion…..him being a captain and leader of this team can help translate that lived experience to the rest of the team and it should boost his confidence as well……certainly won’t hurt us. Definitely a positive in my eyes.

It’s good info. But I’m more interested in last year’s game even though it was at Minny as the returning cast of defense probably is more similar to that than the road game. Any idea how much Nebraska’s D has added / lost year over year.

He threw 44 passes against them last year and got virtually no help from the run game.

Good OP.. I wondered about this but failed to look it up. Of course, everything's changed... but at least he won in Lincoln.

We are going to need to throw and catch. Thumbs-In Everybody.

Wtf?
This is an important point that Al is making having a QB who has won there is valuable to a team that has never done that.
That was my thought too as soon as I saw Al's post. This is, hopefully, a real bonus for us.
As much as Al will incite with some of his more outlandish posts, this is certainly not one of them. Thanks Al.

Just throwing this out there about the Greek kid vs. Nebraska:

1. In 2022, Minnesota could've suited up PJ Fleck's stripper wife taking snaps while spinning on a poll and beaten Nebraska's worst in the Big Ten defense.

2. The Greek Wonder was absolutely terrible vs. Nebraska in 2023, but he won because Nebraska started Jeff Sims who Greg Schiano wouldn't even trust to run his Scout Team.

I think there is greater value in the fact that the bulk of the Rutgers offense and defense has played multiple games on the road and all over the Big Ten. They won't be intimidated.

But this Athan stat is about as useful as trying to order salsa at a Greek restaurant.
