Athan Kaliakmanis has already beaten Nebraska Twice

Calm down everyone.

Athan is Greek. That's obvious.
I was referring to his Greek heritage because spelling his name is impossible.

Fair enough. Re your first post - I guess we just haven’t played Nebraska enough times for you to realize that Athan’s stats against you guys would’ve stood as one of our best passing games last season. That’s how bad we were at passing. We’re still a run first team though and so we’re going to need production from Kyle and Sam. Our D hasn’t looked great so far this season so a 13-10 type game doesn’t seem that likely to me.

Defense held Washington to 10 points over 3 quarters and VT to 7 points over 3 quarters. That is a great performance. Now we gave up 16 of 23 points to VT and 8 of 18 points to Washington in the fourth quarter. Have to wonder whether fatigue is a factor. The vanilla offense, where we went three and out once we have the lead, could also be a factor. That’s Schiano’s style and he is leery of taking risks once he has the lead, and prefers to trust his defense. This worked against VT and Washington, but it won’t work against USC because they are relentless. Washington scored their Last TD at 58:20.

I’m not saying it couldn’t ever be a factor just that this particular game didn’t flow that way. Time of possession was even and we actually had the longest drive of the game in the second half on the TD to make it 21-10 not to far before their 8 point TD. We only punted once in between that drive and Washington’s score and since we kept the ball on the ground the 3 and out took time. This isn’t really debatable - the math proves that time of possession did not put a strain on the D. Even if the 3 and out took 45 seconds - the D had still been resting recently before that drive and Washington’s missed FG drive right before wasn’t that long.

The defense has been good in the red zone but below average everywhere else across 4 games.

Hey Fieldhouse Al of La Mancha…..still a 6’ 230 fearsome Adonis posing for photos and attracting babes in Central Park ?

How many people asked you for photos and autographs yesterday thinking you were Brock Lesnar ?

Or did you stay home to watch your fantasy beau Wimsatt pad his Heisman path by beating UMiss all by himself ?

UMiss him dearly, don’t you Fieldhouse Al ? In your fantasies, which uniform does he wear ?
This is weird!

Al why do the look at me commentators bust your balls? They are the ones that start multiple threads daily and some on multiple sites. Is that OFFICIAL reverse psychology because their lives are so boring and this site is so important to them?

What I’m wondering is could that have been intentional. That the DC was content to give up rushing yards in the 2nd half, especially with our opponents down, but took away the big play. Then once the other team got to the red zone, the defense stiffened up and was helped by the fact that there was less ground to cover.
