Select RU foundation as your charity of choice and eligible purchases will result in donations to RU.

yea forgot to mention... i've been shopping on amazon for a while and never even heard about this. The prices are the same, so if you shop on amazon, might as well have a very small percentage go to RU.Yes, but you have to log in through Amazon Smile (smile.amazon.com). A pretty cool feature.
That's strange. I've had Rutgers Foundation as the designated source for at least 2 years now, maybe closer to 3, and I was a pretty early adopter on Smile. It is listed as Rutgers University Foundation in their directory. When I signed up for Amazon Smile about a year ago I picked St.Jude Hospital, Rutgers wasn't an option. I'll have to relook at this.
Not all Giving is about where my parking spot is.
For example, I'm in the Wrestling Pin Pool , and that has nothing to do with Priority Points. It helps fund the Scarlet Knights Wresting Club (SKWC). I get nothing except for the satisfaction that I am doing a good deed.
Why do you need to get something in return?
Except if you spent $10 at Amazon without designated a charity, it cost you $10. If you spend $10 at Amazon while designating RU as the foundation through Smile, it still costs you $10 and Amazon donates a few cents to Rutgers. You aren't donating anything to Rutgers. If you donate to charity you get a tax break.
If I donate to Rutgers, I want Priority Points.
It's not about "getting something in return". It's about the fact that the school has chosen to identify us within the context of how much money we give. So if they get money from me, then I want it identified.
I don't really care to argue the point. I don't really care how people feel about it, one way or the other. Frankly, Rutgers University isn't a "charity". I give plenty of money to actual, real charitable organizations for which I get no material recognition. My relationship with Rutgers is strictly business.
Might be nice if you pay your half of Amazon Prime some day. Just sayin...When I signed up for Amazon Smile about a year ago I picked St.Jude Hospital, Rutgers wasn't an option. I'll have to relook at this.

As charitable giving goes, it doesn't make a great deal of sense to name Rutgers as beneficiary unless you can link this to your Priority Points account.
So no one should shop at Amazon because of that?Amazon isn't running a charity, either. If they're sending money to the "charity of your choice", then you're paying for it one way or the other.
