Auto renewal of season tickets

definitely considering giving it up after 30 years...knowing that the next 2 years figure to be as ugly as it was in the Hill years....not sure i can stomach that and without any vision from the athletic department...i have heard some sentiment from some other longtime season ticket holders

If die hards are fencing it then yeah this basketball program is in serious trouble
I'm not saying I'm giving it up. My kids both love going and so for that reason alone I'll probably renew.

I'm just saying, maybe I'll wait and buy season tickets later on in the summer when things are more clear. More the principle of it.

Whales. And don’t give me the “whales want to see 200 more fans pony up $10 a month by skipping lunch for a day so we can have $24k for NIL”. All the other B1G team have whales. Is it our job to get the whales too? We’re already being asked to give more than we can. Blood from a stone. You guys beat a dead horse. You want money, find the money. It’s not going to come from the 30 something with a mortgage and kids to put through college who forks over a good chunk of money for game tickets and concessions. And maybe those people are out there. Now find 10,000 of them to make a tangible difference. That still only gives you $1.2mm.

Yes our ticket pricing and parking might be low. It’s called market pricing. Pro sports compete for too much of the NJ sports fans dollar. The pricing is what it is because we have to have “technical” sellouts and can’t fill a football stadium. Raise the pricing it will get worse.

Also those schools with whales win. What’s our ceiling now with NIL? The NIT. Say you found 20,000 of above donors. Is the ceiling one win in the ncaas over 9 years. Winning solved problems. At some point you have to overachieve and we’re doing the opposite. Can’t even inbound a dam basketball.

Pike had a good few years of recruit, retain and develop. The game has changed. Richies podcast yesterday said how Pitino doesn’t even visit hs homes anymore. Just hit the portal and negotiate. That’s not Pikes style. Recruiting donors isn’t either. He doesn’t need to make excuses you guys do it for him. Overachieve, get more money. Find the whales. You’re sure as not going to get the required money but beating is who give what we can budget over the head time and time again.
Exactly. What exactly has he done or accomplished with his 3.5 million salary that any other coach in the country couldn’t have done? Since he’s done almost nothing, designate $1 million of his salary to finding donors.

All the salary usage as justification for poor coaching or whatever narrative is being spun needs to stop. These salaries are irrelevant to these discussions other than buyout talk. It’s industry standard money.

There is an opt out period before auto renewal occurs

That not the same as an affirmative action (i.e opt-in).

It seems most states (including NJ?) require an opt-in for the consumer.

Imagine this scenario:
You hire a company to paint your house annually. Every year they call and ask if you want to schedule again and you do.
Then one year they just show up and try to start painting.
“Oh we auto renewed it. We sent you a notice a month ago and you never said no so we took that as a yes. Let us paint and pay us or we’ll sue for breach of contract.”

That's going to be added sooner rather than later, as several programs have already begun to add it to football tickets.

That's when I drop all of my tickets and take myself on a great vacation or 3 instead.

What if they’ve added a 10% fee and said “We doubled most of the CFB staff salary in the last year+. As such fans have to pay more. Our expenses increase so your expense increases”?

Or to my earlier question - what if they’ve added 10% and just said nothing?

That’s when I’m done with Rutgers Athletics.

This. Go ahead you ungrateful clowns. Don't renew. There are many people chomping at the bit for those nice seats. Please do it.
there really are not that many people chomping at the bit for tix...sure at the bottom you can swoop in but they will bleed out next year for season tickets

I know Fairway Green a fertilizer company that services the Central Jersey area uses the continuation of next year service unless you call and discontinue.

But was it agreed upon initially as a "continuation unless you call"?
I doubt if I call Fairway Green for a 1 time treatment they will just auto bill me the next year.

The problem isn't the auto renewal.
The potential problem is that the agreement wasn't auto-renew and then it was unilaterally changed without active consent from the consumer.

You can buy day of the game tickets via Stub Hub for under $30.
No I know. I'd like to support the program via season tix but I want to see the direction it's headed in first. Plus I like who I sit by. I guess I should see if they are renewing or not haha

One of my football group is already not happy over the increase in required parking lot donation
If we goose up the total with NIL, we probably lose some

I think it's safe to say we'll be getting our green parking back.

The cutoff for green this season was 175 PPs. I had 149.
I had 170 PP's this year and got kicked out of the green lot. Rutgers really has no clue how to retain their existing customer base. 25 years of donating for me and I'm just about done. I got rid of football season tickets and never looked back. I pick and choose a couple games a year. Not sure I'm giving up hoops tix yet.

I'd probably do the same thing & give up all tickets

I'm slowly making my way there. This past season was my last hosting tailgates, no matter how many times my co-host asks me to change my mind.
I'm looking to retire in 2 years, & likely move to NC so giving the Tix up totally will be easy

An early congratulations! Enjoy less traffic, the better weather and much lower cost of living. “If you don’t like high taxes then maybe Nj isn’t for you”

I believe it is in the initial seasonal contract not one timers.

We just doubled the entire football coaching staff expense when the AD already has a huge deficit.
Prices were always going up.

Honestly - having a defined "player cost fee" is the best option. Stop the AD from spending that money on whatever the hell else they want. At least you know where its going.

Maybe they need to add a dedicated "coaching staff fee" as well.
Ha ha ha so naive. The player cost fee will have its own separate required donation.

Don’t be so hasty. Hang in there. Schiano may someday go 8-4. OSU, PSU, Michigan and 2/3 of the conference will have already left to join a new super conference so 2.0 being left behind will have a good record for a year or two just like 1.0 did before the backfill teams pass him.

So just wait. Don’t cancel.

It's not the auto-renewal that's the problem for me. It's doing it before rosters/schedules are set that's wrong. By May, you'll know who's leaving and who's not which would allow the fence sitters to make an informed decision. This reeks of desperation by the athletic department because they know a lot of people are bailing out.

No can’t be. The email says they’ve listened to the fans and we asked for this.

Not canceling yet. Actually renewed our football tickets today.
