We lost guys academically during the Schiano era, too - it just wasn't publicized.
You might recall that there was a list of players, over the years, who were "mysteriously in Greg's doghouse", who went from playing time to nowhere for no apparent reason and then suddenly announced transfers to places like URI.
Academics.
See, the thing about APR is that if a student-athlete transfers out while they're in "good academic standing" then they don't hit your APR number and they don't impact your graduation rate. Greg used to ease the academic problem children out of the program before they became ineligible.
That is completely made up unless you're talking 10 + years ago when this program was a dumpster fire. We haven't had an academically ineligible player since 2004 I believe.
