Baseball at Miami for opener tonight

Amen, Zap - for the umpteenth year in a row I will be at these games. 17 years ago I took my son to the RU Miami opener as his first (of many) RU events, today might be the last for a little while, knock wood, as he heads of to play college baseball next year. When he was younger he played vs RU Frosh from down hear, Victor Valderama - even at age 11 or so, you could see that VV had a big time future.
Collin Kiernan now pitching for Miami Dade County (a lot of MLB Pros from there). Heatter now at Brookdale CC, a very good CC program.
Shame these guys didn't work out.

Down 7-0 Bottom 2. I’m watching and this may be the worst team I’ve seen from RU possibly ever. Zero pop in the lineup and their Friday night starter Can’t throw a strike. And when he does it gets launched.

Actually will be quite short since the Big Ten tourney is something we know nothing of. Remember when this program used to make the NCAAs regularly?
Around 1998 I got to see RU play in the Regions at Yogi Berra Stadium in Little Falls, against UNC, Penn St and Army. That was a fun weekend. We did not advance, however.
Looks like they really took advantage of the new practice facility (Between Dec 26th and today) since the last game in 2018. What a freakin mess.
Please this is litterio. You dont win with a completely unqualified coach. And why exactly did we lose heatter and colin? If they had grade issues, not saying they did, clown should have made sure they did enough. Did we even add one good starting pitcher? This is pathetic. I don't think our pitchers or our batting order will scare anyone. Our shortstop who was good as a freshman I think is out with an injury for at least 2 months. Who is doing our recruiting. Rutkowski led all high schools in NJ 2 years ago last in 2017 and he never even batted one time last year. That is absurd!!! Somehow I think this just might be a very long season.

FHS made a big mistake in that regional by pitching Browlie in the opener against an Army team we would have beaten with our #3 starter. That combined with Dejesus getting hurt cost us the regional. That was my favorite RU team.
Pretty nice crowds that weekend too, would love to see Yogi Berra Stadium get an NCAA Region again.

Not really sure what the new facility has to do with anything, however, I’m pretty sure we’re down for starting pictures from last season whom we expected to have on the staff this season. Serious problem. Regardless, The more we get crushed, early on, the quicker Pat can shorten his list!
It was close, but to have a chance to win that regional we needed Bobby to shut down UNC. I still think it was Fred’s worst decision that season.
Fred's second worse decision may have been to bring JL over as coach in waiting .....
Imagine getting mad about a couple of pitchers not being on the roster and then crying that the pitching coach should be head coach...
I wasnt going to respond. You are either being a jerk or you didnt read my post. Cundari is highly qualified and as mentioned even if he did well I want a full national search. The main reason outside of cundari being highly talented is just to get litterio out of the program and change the program he has created.
Also unless you know something about cundari being responsible for heatter and kiernan I doubt it was his fault that the pitchers are gone. This is not about one or two pitchers. It is about litterio never being qualified and his performance. He has been just as horrible as his resume suggests. Cundari is certainly worth a shot. However I would be completely against bringing him in without a national search including non alumni which has been a problem with rutgers baseball hires. I am not crying about anything. If you would rather duffy be the interim I am fine with that. He is also massively more qualfied than litterio.
Your asserion is absurd. Cundari is a talented coach roster attrition has nothing apparently to do with his ability as a coach. If you have different information please mention. They have nothing to do with his be a viable candidate. So it isnt inconsistent.

Completely agree with this. My thought has always been Hobbs hasn’t had the money to overhaul every sport that he wanted to which is why I suppose Donigan and Litterio weren’t fired sooner. Not saying this is right or totally the case. Just going on where we have spent money. There is no excuse for the state of the baseball program. Totally embarrassing. There are enough Tri state players who don’t have offers from southern schools that we should be able to land and form a competitive team. Obviously I want to recruit outside the area. Just stating the bare minimum. And we can’t even succeed in that
A disgrace?!??! They went .500 last year. I would hardly call that a disgrace. I do believe that it is time for Litt to make a Big Ten tourney appearance. But to say the program is a disgrace is disingenuous and reactionary. So we got swept by The U. A lot of teams will have the same fate.
Also, wanting a full national search is delusional. A coach with northeast ties that is a strong recruiter is necessary. What will a coach from the west or southeast get you? Certainly not players looking to leave warm weather locations for weather like we have today.

You cannot be serious. First of all he went 7 -16 in conference 25-25 who gives shit. Time to make a conference tourney> We should never miss they conference tourney. You think it is delusional to have a full national search for our head coach. If you really think that you are great for litterio. Also a national search doesnt mean hiring a coach that doesnt have north east connections it means a real search that isnt just alumni and local coaches. That is all a national search is. It mean looks for the best candidate regardless of location. A southern or top notch northern coach will get you an established record of recruiting and developement everything lwe dont currently have. Go look to the current michigan coach who took over a bad maryland team. All of a sudden great recruiting and consistently in super regionals.
This has zero ZERO to do with losing to miami. We have had this joke of coach for four seasons and he has the two most losses in a single season set and broke his own record. What more do you need to see. This is not reactionary. he never should have been hired and he should not be the coach currently.
It has been more than enough time of rutgers getting worse and worse in a sport it was good at.
