Doing a 3-4 night getaway w/the wife in Naples, looking for a very nice hotel (preferably close to the beach and 5th Ave. shopping area). Naples Beach & Golf resort looks nice, anyone have other recommendations or have been to that one?

The Ritz has 2 properties close to each other in Naples. One on the beach and one is a mile or so away that is a golf resort. However, neither is near 5th Ave as they are near Vanderbilt Beach Road. They are close to Mercado which is an interesting restaurant and shopping area.

Ritz-Carlton is the best hotel on the beach and there is no runner up. Great property and beach.
I can second that, far and away much better than the Naples Beach and golf resort which I believe was in foreclosure several years ago. The Ritz Carlton is on Vanderbilt beach which is one of the nicer beaches in Naples. The Ritz carlton also has a very nice challenging golf course which is several miles away from the resort but a bus links the two properties.

I like the Trip Advisor site for hotel rankings in each city. For Naples they have:

1. Hyatt House Naples
2. DoubleTree Suites
3. Bellaserra Hotel
4. Inn on Fifth
5 . Inn at Pelican Bay

https://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g34467-Naples_Florida-Hotels.html

Those rankings are a joke. Look at this link from US News - Travel The Ritz and LaPlaya Resort are the best in Naples.

Trip Advisors has the Hyatt House as #1. Stayed there as I used points and wouldn't stay there again. You have to take a van to the beach and the hotel is at the end of the runway of Naples Municipal airport which is a small airport used by private planes. You would not beelieve how many people have private jets or jet-shares in Naples.

This. I have a lot of family in Naples and lived in south Florida for a number of years. Ritz has everything you are looking for. There are two Ritz properties in Naples. Ritz Tiburon is inland. The beachfront property is on Vanderbilt Beach and has a great spa for the Mrs and quite possibly the best steakhouse in Naples.

Naples Grand is a good runner up to these two properties. La Playa on the beach would be a good 4th option. I've stayed at all 4 properties - multiple times.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Just came back a few weeks ago from Marco Island, just south of Naples if you are looking for more options. We thought the beach was great there. Stayed at the Marriott which was also great but there are also a lot of other options too.

I just checked out of the Inn on Fifth a couple of hours ago! I'm in the airport now coming home! I was in the club level area which is right across the street from the main building but equally as nice! They lay out a nice breakfast in the morning for no extra charge, an open bar at 5 to. 10 with a very good selection of wines and top shelf liquor and then lay out dessert goodies later in the evening with really good name brand campaign! All at no extra charge! They will will take you anywhere you want to go within a couple of miles without charge. That includes the beach, old Naples, and any restaurant! I could go on! Very, very nice place!!! Highly recommended!!

I recently stayed at the La Playa resort and had a really great time. It's a really nice resort that's right on the beach. The Naples Beach & Golf resort has a beach, but the reviews say it's a 10-15 minute walk to get there.

Stayed at Naples Beach & Golf this spring. Not bad at all. Right on beach. Some of the buildings are older and smallish rooms. But nothing like the Ritz. Did not stay there but hosted a party on their porch. Top notch all the way. If I had to find a critique it is remote from the shopping and eateries downtown.
Only walked through the Inn on Fifth looks really nice and if you wanted downtown I think it's the place.

If you want a mostly beach vacation, then some of the non-Inn on Fifth options could be preferable. If you want a bit of both (beach, 5th Ave, 3rd Street), Inn on Fifth is ideal. As the poster above mentions, they will get you to the beach, 3rd street, etc., yet it is in the heart of 5th Ave.

Love having lunch on the beach there when I visit my parents who live in Naples for half the year. The "old" Naples aspect of it is pretty cool.

But as others (and my parents would agree too) have said the Ritz is the place if you're looking to be on the Gulf.
