Lots of disrespect all year long toward the Big 10 because they did not do so well in out of conference play. Hey maybe they were not ready to win then. Better to be playing your best at the end of the year not at the beginning. The Big East got 7 schools in and now have 5 out and could have all 7 out by the end of tonight. Seemed to be a fake narrative pushed about how good that league was. Today there was no difference between the two schools on the court today. To me that suggests the Big 10 is a much better conference than all the pundits gave them credit for.

Wisconsin was an 8 seed who should have been a 6. Alot of people counted them out because they lost a couple of games. This is a well coached team with experienced seniors...Koenig and Hayes are money. Michigan State put on a clinic vs Miami and could challenge Kansas. Let us see how Northwestern fairs coming up. Michigan is the hottest team in the country and Purdue has a great shot at making the Sweet 16.

Not a good showing by the Big East but as much as I love seeing the individual schools fall on the big stage, I have a hard time kicking the conference while they are down.

Wisconsin's style always presents problems for teams this time of year so not at all surprised with today's result.

Northwestern gave a good fight. I have Purdue going to the final 4 in my bracket for similar reasons to your original premise- Big10 underrated going in. Not sold on Michigan being able to sustain.

Penn State was next to last correct? They destroyed the Johnnies when they played and St.John's won 7 games in that conference.

The Big 10 was tough, PSU and Nebby tied for 12/13th. The conference was underrated. Northwestern confirmed that tonight in a comeback that fell short if Wisky didnt prove it with their early win.

And I jinxed it, Xavier over FSU tonight, totally crushing them but Xavier was the 7th place team in the league and might carry the flag for them. Butler only up 5 in what should be a close 2nd half

Was dreading a Duke_Villanova Elite Eight matchup. Who do you root for there

ACC and Big Ten are the top 2 leagues by a country mile, from top to bottom.....next is the Big 12 and Pac 12, then the SEC....

I would not discount the regular season over the post season tournament as a one game playoff scenario, but game to game, the B1G presented a more consistent grind/challenge on the defensive end of the court most nights.

The Big East is better than I expected and Nova's upset doesn't change that for the league....on the whole however, there is no argument that the Big East bottom half matches the B1G bottom half as a conference and that's with Ohio State having two down years in a row.

More than the Big East is the ACC getting overblown a bit.....Cuse never belonged in the Dance, but Wake, FSU, Notre Dame, VTech and Miami all eliminated already....UNC Duke Louisville are the best of the conference, then a well coached but limited Virginia team is left....As well as the B1G has shown this tournament, none of the conference measures up to the ACC, but it's not as far behind the curve as we believe......Can Wisconsin knock out Duke?? If they guard and box out and keep the game in the mid to high 60's, Duke will have a problem.

I think on the east coast we tend to underrate the pac12. Solid league this yr.

ACC is always top heavy and coattail trans get over hyped.
When you have Duke,North Carolina and Louisville ,the ACC will always get maximum attention especially from recruits. They are a better basketball conference this season than the B1G from top to bottom as seen in games between the leagues .

Big Ten 2-0 in NCAA vs ACC so far, and yes I think they are better but not by much.

Michigan State game was strange, MSU was terrible and then light went on.

B1G missing teams at the top. Most of the publicity goes to top 10, hence ACC fawned over. Mediocre ACC teams then get credit for losing to the big guys. Now they all get higher seeds than they deserve, meaning easier early games. After all, 3 seeds get a much easier road than 5 seeds, therefore more wins as a whole.

watching Nova, Creighton, and Xavier live in the BE tourney last Friday night I could see how Nova was an over rated lock and Xavier just had those long and big players that just give teams problems like the good cuse teams. nailed these two perfect in my bracket. t me it is so much about how you are playing your last 10 games going into this thing.

and of course to the ACC...ESPN continues to have way too much influence on things. (IMHO). People listen to those talking propagandists way too much.

My kenpom numbers are showing B1G at #4. We are close to #3 BE and not far from #2 ACC.

Kenpom shows where you are as a conference at Christmas. New data gets fed in during post season play as you are no longer playing conference games.

I'd love for us to finish #2. Game at noon is huge

Rutgers Is 134

Just looked at our kenpom for 2016. Rutgers finished at #279. Would like to get back into the top 100 next season. Need more player development and recruiting to get there. We are on our way.

Back to the original topic. Go B1G!! Need Michigan and MSU today!!

Hence the ESPN sponsored raids of the old Big East. That conference became a 16 team behemoth that was taking bids away from the mediocre ACC teams that used to get praised and rewarded come tournament time for getting their doors blown off by powerhouse teams. There was one year where 11 Big East teams got in.

The Big East doesn't match up well out of conference. They are good teams, but Nothing special (besides Nova) at the top. The Big 10 had a down year. The top schools in our conference were Wisconsin and Purdue, not exactly UNC and Duke. The ACC is very competitive. Schools like FSU and and UVA were overrated. WVU played a really good game. Can't knock ND for losing to them. From top to bottom though it's a very tough schedule. Just look at the bottom half of the ACC in comparison to the SEC and PAC12. Not an easy road

Honestly, I'm not sure how much the tournament proves. It's a small sample size and dependent on locations and seedings. you could argue that butler, a 4 seed, had a much easier route to the sweet 16 than nova, a 1 seed.

Wow now 3-0. I think the B1G was a little under rated this year and they're proving it on the court.

3 Sweet 16 schools from Big 10 when some said they would get zero...a chance at a 4th and their could be 3 just in one region. Love MMichigan's chances vs Oreg/Rhody

Michigan has shown the last couple weeks that they can play under pressure and have scorers at every position which makes defending them a very difficult task.I will be rooting for them to win the National Championship..

One of the commentators made a great point about Wisconsin (can't recall who), but it showed in the game versus Villanova how much more comfortable they were in a tight game than Villanova because they played so many close games in the B10. I think that helps Michigan too. Also, it seems to me that both teams have extremely coachable players who just also happen to be very talented.

I heard that too. Sorry, I don't remember who said it either. But the point was well taken, because this year there was so much parody in the conference that there were so many games not decided until the final minute of games, including us.
