Big Ten’s record against Q1 opponents is 8-23

I looked at BART removing preseason

1. B12
2a B1G (ahead by a whisker)
2b BE
4 SEC (a bit behind B1g and BE)

B1G is 23rd out of 32 conference in 3PT fg%

NEC is the worst conference and stony farms is 1-10

Still 5 big ten teams in the NET Top 50. That puts the BIG behind only the Big 12 (8 top 50 teams) and ties us with the ACC for 2nd among all conferences

That stat with zero context/comparison isn't very helpful, but if his point is that we aren't doing good in non-con, there are quite a few chances to rectify it. Notable games:

Indiana vs Kansas
Mich St vs Baylor (Detroit)
Ohio State vs UCLA (Atlanta)
Purdue vs Arizona (Indy) (oh wait nevermind, apparently we can't take credit for Purdue)
Nebraska at Kansas State
Northwestern at Arizona State
Illinois vs Mizzou (St Louis)
Maryland at UCLA
Rutgers vs Miss St (Newark)

Thank you for this. So it looks like our league played more quad 1s, tough quad ones with many on the road and neutral sites. Yeah, I’d say context is just little important here:

These are the games on the come. Not sure about the ones already played

Sorry about that. But the league doesn’t duck anyone. Just this past Saturday Illinois was at UT, Wisconsin was at Arizona and IU played Auburn in Georgia. And let us not forget that we traveled up the Turnpike to own Jersey! 😁

For someone who went to RU, Watchel is approaching Jerry Palm status for me, as losing all credibility.

Maybe clicks are that important, but it's awful for the sport of CBB to have people like this......and then turn around and want to profit off of the same product. Very disappointing.

There is no question that the B1G Ten lacks the star players this season as compared to previous years. It will be difficult getting eight teams receiving NCAA Tournament bids.Parity will result in most teams having less than ten league wins.

His hair isn’t as bad yet, so there’s that. The click business is what it is and won’t change.

Some more context:

Top 20 teams are 32-22 against Q1 opponents (.593)
21-40 are 12-22 (.353)
41-60 are 8-26 (.235)
61-80 are 6-30 (.167)
81-100 are 4-22 (.154)

Unless your program qualifies as a Q1 team, you likely have a pretty poor record against Q1 opponents.

Even taking out Purdue at 8-23 (.258), that's still a touch ahead of Top 41-60 NET programs.

Other side of the argument is without Iowa and Mich St 0-9 vs Q1.
B1G is 12-15 vs Q1s

Big 12(9-13), 4 teams have all 9 wins.
Houston(3-0), BYU(1-1), Baylor(2-0), Kansas(3-1)
Other 10 teams 0-11

FWIW, these are the Big Ten games that could qualify as Quad 1 games on a team's schedule this year:

Home: #1-30
vs. #4 Purdue
vs. #18 Illinois
vs. #19 Wisconsin

Neutral (BTT): #1-50
vs. #4 Purdue
vs. #18 Illinois
vs. #19 Wisconsin
vs. #35 Ohio State
vs. #46 Northwestern

Away: #1-75
at #4 Purdue
at #18 Illinois
at #19 Wisconsin
at #35 Ohio State
at #46 Northwestern
at #65 Iowa
at #66 Michigan
at #67 Nebraska

#77 Rutgers is right on the cusp and will easily rise to the top 75 with another win. If #83 Michigan State remembers how to play basketball, they will be in the top 75, as well. The Big XII looks to clearly be the best conference, but for a comparison, this is the SEC and ACC:

SEC
Home: #1-30

vs. #10 Tennessee
vs. #11 Alabama
vs. #22 Auburn
vs. #23 Texas A&M
vs. #28 South Carolina
vs. #30 Mississippi State

Neutral (SECT): #1-50
vs. #10 Tennessee
vs. #11 Alabama
vs. #22 Auburn
vs. #23 Texas A&M
vs. #28 South Carolina
vs. #30 Mississippi State
vs. #39 Kentucky
vs. #43 Florida

Away: #1-75
at #10 Tennessee
at #11 Alabama
at #22 Auburn
at #23 Texas A&M
at #28 South Carolina
at #30 Mississippi State
at #39 Kentucky
at #43 Florida
at #61 Ole Miss

ACC
Home: #1-30

vs. #13 Clemson
vs. #20 Virginia

Neutral (ACCT): #1-50
vs. #13 Clemson
vs. #20 Virginia
vs. #34 Duke
vs. #36 North Carolina
vs. #42 Pitt

Away: #1-75
at #13 Clemson
at #20 Virginia
at #34 Duke
at #36 North Carolina
at #42 Pitt
at #53 NC State
at #58 Virginia Tech

So...

Home: 6 for SEC, 3 for Big Ten, 2 for ACC
Neutral: 8 for SEC, 5 for Big Ten, 5 for ACC
Away: 9 for SEC, 8 for Big Ten, 7 for ACC

So what we all knew already ... Big Ten is nothing special and nothing to sneer at. The top is thin, but there is pretty good depth. If some teams like MSU and especially Maryland were not astonishingly bad compared to preseason expectations, the conference would actually look pretty good.

I mean, it's fine?

No full conference has a good record in Q1 games. Newsflash.. that's why they are Q1 games.
SOCC gonna SOCC

RU 66 said “Expected nonsense from a Hall fan. Try to understand the point and not let your jealousy of RU and the B1G get in the way .”

I’m definitely jealous of RU mens b-ball and it’s long NCAA tourney tradition. 😎 That said, very nice W vs SH.

"That said" ?? --there are many more reasons to be jealous of RU and the BIG, want a list? Why do you bother to come on a RU message board with your bullshyt when you do it on your Hall board .? Must suck to want what you can't have.

I just checked the warren nolan site and compiled all the major conference records against Q1. Unfortunately not all teams were listed with Quad records in his Nitty Gritty page, so I had to dig through the team sheets for several teams. NET rankings are a bit different today than the day of that tweet, and I also may have mistyped something here or there, but I think this is directionally accurate.

Major conference records against Q1:
.429 (9-12) - Big 12
.375 (9-15) - Big East
.367 (11-19) - SEC
.293 (12-29) - Big 10
.257 (9-26) - ACC
.150 (3-17) - Pac 12

This doesn't remove games between conference schools. The Big 10 has faced more Q1 teams than any other conference with 41, followed by the ACC with 35, and SEC with 30.

For this to mean anything you need to remove the conference games. Rutgers losing at home to Illinois doesn't make the Big 10 any worse than had Rutgers beat Illinois

This is dumb on so many levels already addressed but what's worse is the OP inaccurate title. At least the tweet had full context and not just an inaccurate stat
