Boeheim?

Living in CNY, I am getting the feeling that Boeheim may be considering retiring or, at least, leaving SU. This is just my gut reaction to his statement after today's loss about him deciding on the future.
Interestingly, there are calls for both Boeheim and the AD Gross to be fired.

Although SU will most likely appeal the decision by the NCAA (what do they have to lose?), my guess is that this is the opening shot of what should be even a bigger hit at UNC for their systemic academic fraud and they will not get any relief.

With the loss of valuable scholarships for the next four years and the possibility of the signed recruits to be able to get out of their LOI's, things are going to be looking pretty bleak for Jimbo.

I believe Syracuse has two Jersey recruits one from Pope John XXXIII and one from Trenton Catholic. I doubt either would switch to us but it would be nice.

Jim might retire but would never leave Syracuse for another job. The man bleeds Orange through and through and has never left Syracuse since he was a student there in the 1960s.

As for the AD, didn't he come from the USC AD staff? His tenure at SU, which IIRC began with the hiring of Robinson as the football coach, hasn't exactly been stellar. Under him, SU football completed its decline into mediocrity that began following the graduation of their great QB in the late 1990s (can't recall his name but he later played for the Philadelphia Eagles). It wouldn't be a big surprise to see him take the hit for this, but Jim would do well to step aside at this point, so that some of his legacy at least can still survive.

fully agree. JB is never going to coach anywhere else. he either stays for another couple of years or fully retires.

And when he leaves SU, sanctions or no sanctions, it is NOT going to be good for Syracuse.

That has NOTHING to do with whether or not he runs a clean program, and he DOES NOT!!!

I know folks who live up there and they've told me stories about athletes getting $, etc.

Syracuse and Boeheim are a farce for "college" athletics, just like UNC and probably many others.

I'm tired of Vitale, Bilas, and all those lackies sucking up to those highly "successful" coaches, Calhoun and Roy Williams and Dean Smith included.

Almost funny that it took so long to really nail Syracuse for cheating. The NCAA couldn't find an Irishman in Dublin. If Boeheim leaves Syracuse it would be perfect if he joined Calipari as an assistant or advisor. He's groomed himself all career long for a spot on the Wildcats staff.

The dirty program part will soon be forgotten and he'll be known as one of the best.

You could be right about that when talking about the College Basketball fan that follows it closely, but years from now Boeheim
will be considered one of the best and his cheating will be overlooked.

Until I hear otherwise, Smith is not that much like the rest of them.

My main complaint is, and not just with Vitale, but he's the main culprit (surprise), is that they always close ranks every single time. No coach ever knows about what goes on in his program. No coach is ever to blame for the sleaze at a school. No coach has ever, ever done anything wrong and ever, ever deserves to be fired.

Well, except maybe Vitale with the Pistons.
