BTN Question - How come they haven't replayed the RU-MD game ... ?

I have a BTN Question for those folks on the board who know all things BTN-related. How come BTN has not re-aired the RU-MD game (of 2014) as part of the "Rutgers Classics" series? The only game, I believe, that they've re-shown from last year was the Michigan game. I do think Maryland game is a classic, at the very least, for being such a dramatic win.

Does anyone know if it been re-aired this year? Or, if it can be found on BTN or your local cable provider's "On Demand" service?

Although I could watch the UM game all day, I too would like to see the MD game. The UM game was aired on the BTN while I don't think the MD game was so perhaps that has something to do with it. I haven't seen it aired on BTN yet either.

until recently the only being shown has been Ohio State, UM, Mich State , and some Penn State. Still feels like 50% of the content on this channel off season is Ohio State. A bit disappointing to say the least.

Same games over and over isn't a whole lot of fun either..

Correct. The RU v. MD game was on ESPNU. I still have it on my DVR.

They've also just replayed ttfp vs. OSU at OSU, from 2010, as a ttfp classic. Just yesterday, in fact. And, also MSU vs. Georgia in the Outback Bowl (from a few years back) as an MSU Classic. Also, just yesterday.

Who is this "Huskers" anyway? ;)

I also DVD'rd this game, and for some reason I will watch some of it a few times a week when nothing else seems interesting on TV......I just pick it up from the few minutes before halftime mark, when we begin our comeback.....

It is the only game I do this .......just was so amazing to see, both in person when it happened and on tape now

That isn't what I said. I said when they have RU day or week the PREFER to show home events. I would guess that the reason it hasn't been shown is because BTN doesn't own the rights and isn't willing to pay ESPN for them currently. Thanks

Fine, but they have the rights to it already since I can watch it on BTN2Go. They also have the rights to our bowl game it seems since I can watch that too,

Yes I have noticed this as well. Seems every time I flip on the guide it's one of those four schools being played. Don't turn on BTN because I've already seen it and osu stuff is on all the time. psu stuff will not watch. There are 14 schools in this league and they need to do more programing on the other 10 for the off seasons. Very disappointed in their off season selection thus far.

I am not sure but I think having it shown via the internet(BTN2Go) is a different deal than showing it on TV. I recall some NU games that were this way. Remember that there is very limited programing available for RU that the BTN owns right now. NU was/is the same way and you still just see certain games. Until content gets built up expect to see the other schools way more.

^^The most cogent answer in this thread. I LOVED the Maryland game, and even with that, my initial reaction to the OP's question was, "Because nobody else gives a shit." I imagine that will change in time, but if people tune in to watch our games at this point it will mostly likely be out of curiosity while flipping channels and not a must-see.

I know many of you are planning on coming to Penn State for the game this year but Michigan is absolutely fantastic. I live in OH so the drive is only three hours but it is my favorite place to go in the B1G. The golf course tailgating is fantastic and the fans could not be nicer. My best buddy and I rent a house in AA every two years and make it a family get-a-way. Absolutely love going to that place and kind of hope my son ends up there for college.

True, but the average viewer who tunes in to the first half probably has no clue about the outcome. Knights and Terps do, but otherwise most probably wouldn't make it very far into the game once we were being blown out.

I would think that the average viewer tuning in the BTN is a sports fan and knows that it is the re-run season. Seeing how lop sided the score was in the 1st half and knowing that blow outs are not the typical re-run game shown, those viewers would tend to be more interested to see what the outcome is knowing that it will be a close game.

And, BTW - I love watching the game - and it was a great comeback!

but, I still contend, it was a much closer game than people remember.... 11:17 in the 2Q it was 14-10.

then 8:00 of horrible tackling..... turns it to 35-10

but, by 14:00 in the 3Q it was already back to 35-24

but - 25 point comeback is still 25 point comeback!

Don't take it as a slight. I think it's lazy programming on the part of the BTN. They show not just the same teams, but the same games over and over and over. Maybe the BTN is limited because of network contracts, and all the rest of the BS, or maybe the BTN is getting a bit too satisfied with itself. But, they need to be more varied and inclusive.

That HB Blades led Pitt team was obsessed on a loss to Rutgers all summer... did not go well for them.
