That's not at all how mine worked. It started flashing in its own at like 30 seconds and counted down to zero at which point it stopped.

Maybe the compatibility of the app across different phones was part of the issue. Mine didn't start on its own after the countdown. I was holding up a dark phone. My son yelled at me to turn on flash at which point it started flashing on and off along to the beat of the music.

RU fans just never get this stuff right. I applaud the school for trying but it never seems to work.
