Bubble

I was one of the first hundred in and when I got to the clothes they were out of larges in basically everything. Was lucky enough to get a nice pair of athletic pants. Also got a white helmet signed by Carroo (pic of my Twitter @RandalGravesNL) and two of the new style jerseys (white and black. Got black one signed by Sanu)

I was in the first 30 people in the line, and I wasn't able to get the two shirts I most wanted in my size. However, I got a great pullover

I guess choosing to go to my sons lax game was the better decision. I wonder if we'll soon see the jerseys on eBay?

Keep in mind that the jerseys are mostly the 2005-07 look, as well as the 2015 ones.....it appears that RU will be wearing the 2009 look from now on.....it's the same as the 05-07 look, but with rounded numerals.

Think they'll be wearing the 2016 look.

@ouchmyknee are we getting the reveal tonight? I know you said May, but this just seems like a no brainer time to do it with all the recruits there...it is a true "out with the old and in with the new" moment...

Place was PACKED!

Got there at 3:20 and line was nuts. Came back at 6, waited for 25 mins and bought a t shirt.

I got lucky and was in the first 20. Not handled right by RU. They should have and a few selling areas with more help. I slso was sick to see several buyers buying up everything fir resale im sure. I mean one guy had about 25 jerseys, a few helmets etc. another guy purchased about 75 nike socks that were selling fir a buck, which was a great deal. That line was huge and not moving.

I agree that they should've had multiple lines, but I expected to see a free for all Black Friday at the Woodbury Commons or Walmart atmosphere, so I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was very orderly, even if it was illogical to have 1 line.

Went in a little before 6 PM and it was crazy long. Left after a few minutes as I thought it would take an hour. I assume the deals were good as people were leaving with bags with multiple items.

I stood in line for 30 min outside then an hour inside. It seemed that the majority of people were trying to get tee shirts & sweatshirts...which I had no interest in. I finally left the line & walked up to the jersey table. Got a red jersey with an International Bowl patch on it. Took another 15 min to pay as they only had 4 people handling that. I was able to get all the players to sign it. The friends I left in line came out 45 min later.

I was told by someone in marketing that they offered their help to the equipment people who said they wanted to do it in their own. That won't happen again.

Unbelievable line inside the bubble.
Who was at the table signing yesterday? My kids had a chance to meet Sanu, Carroo, EL, and Nova. Didn't recognize some of the other guys. A couple guys were huge. Thinking maybe Lumpkin?

Got a bunch of great stuff. Will sell it all at profit at tailgates and local fleas. Amazing how many adults buy the stuff. Love free market capitalism.

Quick solution use the donor points to set time people can buy....you donate a lot you get dibs, i would be middle to back of the line, but would be happy seeing the program supporters...the real money get the chance for this stuff.

Anyone able to move this forward?

Got in the bubble about 3:40 and the line was in the back of the far end zone. Was in striking distance of the tables by 5:30 at which point a girl evidently started telling people toward the back of the line to form a second line if they just wanted jersey. Instead a forming a line in an organized manner by pulling people from the front and methodically forming the second line it then became a free for all as all sorts of people were able to cut the line while most people (like me - who only wanted a jersey too) found themselves suddenly looking around like "WTF is going on? What did she tell people"? Typical.

Rutgers has an Auction site on ScarletKnights.com but practically no one realizes it's there. Most stuff goes unsold or with only 1 or 0 bidders or even for fixed prices. If they would publicize it better, I'm sure they could sell a lot of the old jerseys for a decent amount. Maybe not the right outlet for the mountains of old t shirts and other crap but definitely a market for game used jerseys.

Classic. Every event or time I go to an RU thing I leave with multiple thoughts about how it could have been run better. They just need for somebody with some common sense to stand back and think things thru a bit. Never seems to be the case.

I was there at that time too. Line mgmt was definitely lacking. Not sure if it was people complaining but after a little while of splitting it apart they turned the line back into 1 (with all those people who ran up moving ahead of those they bypassed). The staff also consistently let people walk right up to the side tables in the tshirt area without waiting in any line. Occasionally they would mention tell people but not usually...and then the workers grabbing clothing didn't help because they would wait on those people and not just send them to the line.
I think the workers grabbing shirts got lazy by the end too. I know my person flat out said no we don't have XL of anything and then while he's going to grab something other workers would start handing that size item to other fans.
Bottom line, def could have been run better but it was nice to grab some gifts for family at a big discount!

PS---were the players only there for a certain period of this sale? By the time we got there in the 5's I didn't see them and had a handful of random people asking about them not finding them.

I was able to get a couple of jersey and two brand new warm-up jackets. The same ones the players walk in with during scarlet walk. Tags were still on them. One jersey was #74 so it was great that Lumpkin was able to sign it. Carroo, Longa, Paul James and Sanu signed my RU hat.

The players left a few minute before 5:00.

Did Leonard show up for autographs, I saw his name on the list but didn't see him at the table.

For the poster who mentioned Nova, I think you meant Paul James.

When I talked to Jasmine, our ticket rep on Friday, she said that she was going to be in the bubble helping with merchandise sales! For what that's worth. We had to work on Saturday so we did not get there until 6. The line was almost to the door! A couple walking out said to us that the only things they had left were 2X and 3X. We left and went to the stadium.

Does anyone know if all the helmets were sold? I wanted one but was not going to wait on that line for hours.

not sure, but I was in there fairly late in the process and they had atleast a handful there. The ones I remember I believe were the black matte finish (but there could have been other kinds as well). The helmets were fairly expensive comparatively so maybe that helped keep some on the shelf.

the helmets were $300 a piece. I saw a lot of people walking out with them even at that price.

yep, people were buying them...just meant that compared to everything else they were selling, it was less of a spontaneous purchase item vs just throwing in an extra tshirt or sweatshirt because why not for $5 or $10.

Rutgers are getting brand new Nike Uniforms.

They will be different than anything before, but will have a more classic look than the Flood era ones.

For all the great stuff Pat has done and will continue to do, it's amazing how RU still can't get the little things right.

I'll give two more examples of incompetence:

At the lacrosse game Friday, the person at the ticket window had no clue that a child with a Junior Knights card is entitled to a free ticket (per ScarletKnights.com). After finally squaring that away, it was time to deal with the know-nothing collecting tickets at the gate. She had to have it explained to her that plastic bottles of water area allowed in if they're sealed. I mean you'd think it was their first day working at an RU athletic event and that neither had received any training. Will it ever change?

it is a great price for a real helmet which tend to cost way more than that like closer to $1000 or more.
I think you're confused as the red, white & black helmets don't cost anywhere near that but the battlescarred do.

You must have been right near me in line, as we got there the same time and this was my experience. We waited for about an hour and the line was hardly moving. Then as stuff sold out it went much faster, and then when we were finally close, the idiot girl told everyone who wanted jerseys at the back of the line to move up. But she didn't tell us at the front of the line. My son was able to get a white jersey, but he really wanted a black one, which was all sold out in XL. Of course, some had bags with loads of jerseys earlier.

I agree there should be a limit to how much you can buy, at least in one stop. Make the hoarders get back on line after, say, buying 5 items max.

I am not usually a complainer, but this was a total fiasco. For every person who got in line, seven just looked and walked back out. I was in line from about 3:10 to about 6:15 and they had no sizes in anything I like so I bought NOTHING. It must have been 90-95 degrees in The Bubble and even people who were in line for over an hour finally gave up and walked out. This could not have been organized more poorly--it must have cost Rutgers thousands and thousands in lost sales. I know Hobbs did not organize this, but I hope he is aware of what happened and things will be run differently next time. Just my two cents to the sale.
