Bullock says yes to Pikes and Rutgers!

Great kid being around him on the aau circuit and some high school season since I am involved with his aau program. He's a kid who loves to play basketball the right way. He is a team kid and is a hard worker. I believe he will pan out to be a good player for Rutgers.

Nice to get jersey kid, and All-State team comes out tomorrow. Nice to see Bullock with RU by his name.

Great news, i like this kid!

But lets not go crazy, its not like any major programs were knocking down his door

Bullock is the first New Jersey high school basketball player to commit to Rutgers since four-star St. Anthony guard Myles Mack picked the Scarlet Knights back in 2011

Wow.. That speaks volumes

Wtf? That can't be true.

this is a great pick considering where we are in the recruiting cycle, the kid's HS, new coach, and what appears to be a great fit with attitude of kid and attitude of coach/coach's system

I love this pick up. love it.

I am so happy to hear this. I hate to say it but I was the first guy to push for him on this site. I was ripped for saying how good he was and how tough he is. I said that RU should have gone after Otis Livingston too and was ripped by many for saying that. I have watched basketball for many many years and I recognize players with talent. I firmly believe that Matt will become a fan favorite and will add much toughness which we have lacked. He will probably be on The All State Team tomorrow as Otis was on the first team last year. I am a Linden guy so I see them more than I see other teams but I have seen Matt play quite a few times. A future all star I believe is Tavon Jones of Linden who just completed his sophomore year and led Linden in scoring at 15.7 ppg. He is a SG and is already 6'2" and I expect him to be on one of the 3 All State teams tomorrow. He had 5 threes in one game this year against Roselle Catholic. He also takes it hard to the basket. He is a future All Star who will get many offers. St. Joe of Philly offered him 2 months ago. We should be keeping Tavon on our radar. I feel vindicated after this announcement and look forward to watching Matt play at RU. I am also glad that we finally got a Jersey guy. It is about time as we have so much talent in our state.

I like this pickup. Kid is a winner from a good NJ high school where our new coach needs to make inroads. And sounds like he'll bring toughness to our team, which is what I want to see this year.

Welcome to the Banks Mr. Bullock!

"Pikes"....is that his nickname?

That has a ring to it, the student section can be called the "Pikemen"

And it works too because pikemen were a real thing. In the Renaissance pikemen were the footsoldiers of many armies and were led by...knights :)

Again with the recruitment, Mike Jarvis said that Douby was not good enough for St.John's. He could be very good.

Wtf? That can't be true.

Amazing....but true.
Just one more sign of how awful this program has become.
Hopefully, things are beginning to change.
Perhaps I WILL live to see MY school in March Madness.

Great get. Seems like he's in the Laurent / Williams mold of toughness & playing bigger than his size. He already looks stronger than most of the current roster.

WELCOME, BIG FELLA!!

You will be just like Pikiell - he was the 1st recruit for Calhoun at UConn, and look how that turned out.

Let's do this!!

We should run promotions for tix in a few of the 300-level sections. Call the area Pikes Peak.

Tickets in Pikes Peak -- only $10 each, two for $15

I would have loved to work at RU after I retired as a high school teacher and cross country and track coach. Unfortunately with my wife passing away from cancer 2 years ago and my health problems with cancer for the last 14 months I often do not feel 100% I did contact RU immediately after I retired and asked if I could volunteer in some capacity with the team. I was told that was not available according to NCAA rules.. I still get to all the games and root as hard as I can. Trust me when I say it is a lot harder to recruit kids to run cross country than to play basketball and I took pride in my being able to talk kids into running. Once I saw that a kid did something pretty good in the physical fitness test regarding running I was immediately talking with that kid if they were not out for another sport in the fall. I talked many kids into running for me just from seeing a result or seeing them run once in a gym class. A recruiter has to have a connection with kids. I was fortunate to often have that rapport with kids. They are the ones who led my team to numerous accomplishments and got me into the New Jersey State Coaches Hall of Fame. Basketball is still the sport I love best and I hope that before my days end I can see RU make the NCAA once again. That would be a dream come true.

Would be a great promotion since most people buy tickets up there and then move down to better seats later.

Kid's a winner and built like a tank! -Have a feeling he's not going to be the easiest guy to cover for opposing teams. I mean, that young man is a load.

WELCOME. Matt, to "The Banks"!!

Thanks Phil. I just always thought this was a no brainer since the first time I saw him play.
