Apparently Caleb performed very well at the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament. Almost averaged a double double in the 3 games.
NBA rules?Great showing! How did he end up with 6 personal fouls in the last game though?
I guess. Seems kind of odd though for a college all star event.NBA rules?
He was an underrated passer at RU. Tossed some dimes. The full court bowling ball pass was a thing of beauty. Good to see him playing to his strengths.
It's a pro scouting event, not a college all star event.I guess. Seems kind of odd though for a college all star event.
I think our fan base in general underrates his ability to contribute post college outside of his defense. He can pass and is a good rebounder for his height. Above average handle for a non-point. He’s not a good shooter, but at the end of the day, only the very best college players are good shooters at the NBA level. He’s good at things that have potential to translate at the next level. His offense, for better or worse, has never been that impacted by playing better or worse opponents since he’s not feasting on knocking down wide open 3s.
He measured 6’5” at the event, and his vertical leap was poor and he wasn’t very fast. He is too small to guard small forwards in the NBA, so he could only play shooting guard. If he was versatile and could play multiple positions he might have some path to the NBA in the future, but given his size and measurables, hard to believe he has any shot.I think our fan base in general underrates his ability to contribute post college outside of his defense. That stuff is for the draft. He’s not a draftee candidate. Measurables aside, Caleb can guard anyone 1-3. The height and speed stuff explain why he’s not worlds greatest transition player. He’s as quick and sharp as anyone in the halfcourt sets based on his effort. And he has a natural nose for loose balls. His offense normalizes to that of guys who produced more in college but wouldn’t get their shots off in the NBA (Cam, Geo, and a long list of others). Except at the FT line. There he must improve to have a legit chance. He measured 6’5” at the event, and his vertical leap was poor and he wasn’t very fast.
