Caleb McConnell, Ron Harper Jr. to play in 2024 NBA Summer League
Not one, but two former Rutgers Basketball players will be playing in this year's NBA Summer League.

Don't even lump that guy in with Ron and Caleb.Actually, there will be three former Rutgers basketball players in the NBA Summer League.
Cam Spencer. 😜
Always remember... Cam is a Rutgers grad. You can't be a grad transfer without being a grad.
Not if he earns a spot on the Celt's roster .That must hurt RHJ's fandom being a Knicks fan wearing Boston Celtic colors
He played for RU and graduated from Rutgers, which will have some Rutgers fans inferring Cam's a Rutgers manDon't even lump that guy in with Ron and Caleb.
Well said!He played for RU and graduated from Rutgers, which will have some Rutgers fans inferring Cam's a Rutgers man
The UConn fan-base can claim he is a Husky and be right because he played the same length of time for their team as Spenser played for Rutgers and was drafted as a UConn player
Loyola of Maryland supporters might not claim Cam Spencer as one of their own, but they can point out his 3 years as a Greyhound was more than his next two stops as a college player combined and he became a good player under the tutelage of their basketball staff and might be able to claim that going to LOM put Spencer on the road to the NBA draft .
But this thread is about two players who can undoubtedly be called Rutgers men and I wish them the best in their summer league play hoping the way they play earns a shot to make the team that holds their rights and they prove worthy for a spot on the roster
Calab a Hornet and Ron on Boston's roster

RHJ is getting a legitimate shot. Read the story posted by AntiG above.I won't pretend to know if it's a bad sign or not but Ron only played 10 minutes Saturday. Scored 3 points.

I would think good summer league play would give him a better chance to keep from being cut quickly in training camp because the Celts would give him a little more time to prove himself because of how he played in summer league. The summer league is critical for him so people from other teams see him play.
If you're one of or the last cut of the Celtics there are likely teams you can make.
Yeah Walker is a bonafide scorer and rotation player on most teams and has starting experience, so I can imagine him competing for the 10 or 11 spot on the Celtics' rotation. He's a perfect backup for the Jays.Celtics signed Lonnie Walker IV to a training camp tryout (Exhibit 10 contract - same as RHJ).
I would have to imagine Walker has the leg up on making the roster and taking that last/15th roster spot.
Note - Celtics already have all 3 Two-Way contracts signed.
If RHJ stays with the Celtics it would seem to likely be a regular G-League contract.
As a reminder, Two-Way contract (RHJ last two years) approx $500,000/season.
Standard G-League contract is approx $35k/season (with bonus up to additional $50k).
