Cam Newton does not wear a mouthpiece

Maybe that's why he didn't dive for the ball? [roll]

Probably right...would you dive head first without a mouth piece?

Seriously, I noticed during the entire game. No mouthpiece, just chewing gum.

I also noticed this during the game. I thought it was mandatory. Is it not mandatory for QB's?

Never thought id see the day when folks here would be as concerned about a qb as they are about christian hackenberg.

He must have been wearing one at the post game news conference, and it prohibited him from answering questions with more than one word:joy:.

These guys are adults and can make their own decisions (like no thigh pads). Just like when I am on a bike path enjoying a morning ride along the beach, I don't wear a helmet.

It isn't easy to bark out calls with a mouth piece. But if he got rocked, like running backs and line backers do every play, he'd put one in, for sure.

The ringing in the head after your teeth slam together is brutal. He's an adult, he'll make a decision what is best for him.

Sorry disappoint all you socialists/communists who want to control people's every waking moment.

He hasn't used a mouth piece all year. And he isn't the only QB not putting one in. I've seen plenty of plays where a QB has left his mouth piece wedged in hie face mask or ear-hole when the ball is snapped. The NFL doesn't care about a players safety. Take a look at what's going on in the league. There are players not wearing hip/tail pads, not wearing knee pads, wearing pants that don't cover knees, wearing rib pad exposed out of the jersey. Even with all the press about concussions, there are still a bunch of players who aren't wearing their chinstraps properly attached. These guys will all be crippled when they are forty, just like the guys from the 60's were. That's their choice.

The only chang I have noticed is, Thigh pads are now mandatory.....the NFL changed that.

What I take issue with is these hacks who sue 20yrs later when they are broke. And that is exactly what they are.

They really need to sign a release. I knew when I was in HS that football was going to put me in serious pain later in life. After my Jr yr in college and still riding the pine, I hung up because the beatings in practice just hurt too much.

Am I going to turn around sue my HS and college? I KNEW WHAT I WAS DOING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Find a way to get these guys medical insurance after 3yrs in the league, force them to sign a release and "acknowledgement that they played HS and college football prior to the NFL" to bring in other "responsible parties," and then cut all ties.

He actually was chewing gum while playing. Noticed it several times.

Seeing him puss out on diving into the fumble scrum makes me think he needs to have the seat down when he pees so he doesn't fall in!
