OT: Hulk Hogan Boo'd mercilessly at WWE Show

Hogan definitely was an awful wrestler, even for the standards of the 80s. I watched some of the NFLX WWE debut and caught when Hogan came out. Honestly, it didn't sound like he was being booed. Not sure if production did something with the audio.
Huh? It was clearly raining boos. There was no conspiracy of the production adding audio. Also it’s not about politics. Undertaker backed Trump and the crowd cheered like hell during his appearance. This is a Hogan thing.

I never noticed the booing, but honestly, I saw it was essentially a pitch for his new beer so I probably zoned out. LOL!

This from a guy who has never once exhibited anything remotely resembling virtue. 🤣

And “emojied”? Ha ha ha ha. That’s pretty funny, Adolf.

For a guy who consumed steroids, drugs and concussions at the rate the Hulkster did, I think him turning out to be a racist dimwit and shitty person/father/husband is really a best case scenario.

I knew virtually nothing about WWE or Hulk Hogan but a quick web search showed two reasons why he might be booed.

1. The event was in CA and, apparently according to a couple articles I just read, HH's politics are unpopular with many in CA.
2. He apparently was discovered to have made some fairly racist statements some time ago and so there has been backlash over that.

In any event, I think Netflix, while doing very well at the moment financially, may be guilty of decisions that will be unpopular with much of their US audience (and some decisions that seem unpopular everywhere). An example is cutting shows that are popular because they don't want to pay increasing salaries to show staff (the salaries increase over time). I have been seeing more and more people complain about this, with many saying they've canceled their subscriptions over it. Also the price hikes.

Also their app UI really sucks. For example, they don't give users a means to filter out stuff they don't want cluttering up their list of content (e.g. foreign language stuff or horror genre stuff or whatever people don't like). It'd be mindlessly simple to provide that, but they don't.

The numbers are growing, but they might start losing longer-term customers in increasing numbers over that sort of stuff.

I had to stop at "I knew virtually nothing about WWE or Hulk Hogan but a quick web search showed two reasons why he might be booed."

There is no way anyone our age DOES NOT know who Hulk Hogan is regardless if you like the WWE or not. I personally have never watched 1 minute of WWE but he was an iconic figure in the 80s and 90s

And that persona perfectly aligns with his politics.

Shocker.

Undertaker was there and he got a Pop.

I saw many videos pop up on my feed about the Politics of Undertaker and Batista this fall.... didn't see any on Hogan.

I am sure that if the folks who showed up to the event would have Booed Hogan because of Politics, they would have booed Undertaker as well.

My guess is the real reason is that overall Hogan comes across as a liar and a piece of trash... and sure maybe some folks see the politics as icing on the cake. I watch some youtube wrestling videos on old schools like Bret Hart, Mr Perfect, Rick Rude, etc. I get a ton of videos on my feed on how Hulk Hogan is crap everything. And somehow he continues to run his mouth every few years. No one likes to hear how Hogan derailed many careers of wrestlers that they like.

On the other Hand, Undertaker is likeable regardless of any personal beliefs. For every 1 video of Undertaker screwing someone, there are like 30 of how amazing he is. For every couple of wrestlers that said Hogan helped their careers (Bundy, OneMan Gang), there are 30 wrestlers who say he was crap.

it’s all fake personas and you fall for it. they make millions being good guy or bad guy and stay in character lol

Wrong. I go to WWE events, and you would be hard pressed to find a Trump voter in Los Angeles.
From a purely quantitative perspective --I'm not at all interested in discussing politics here-- it would seem not overly difficult to find a Trump voter in LA as he received almost 1.2 million votes (32% of the total) in LA County in 2024

I think the key is “at a WWE event”, not on the street in LA.

Kamala got 65% of the vote, nearly 2:1. Kamala voters would likely outnumber Trump voters at a WWE event in LA.

That's a different discussion as I was merely responding to your comment that "you would be hard pressed to find a Trump voter in Los Angeles"

Where did I say I had never heard of him? I said I knew virtually nothing about him. Even with the two articles I read talking about his politics and his racism, I *still* know virtually nothing about him.
