Can't wait till next year RUWBB

how many were in attendance today..remember when a game against a top 15 program would draw 4-5K on a weekend...wow the program has been gutted..our old fanbase is probably dying off and there are no new ones to replace them. I do not go to games anymore because its unwatchable

Exactly. I know very few WBB teams show a net plus in way of the budget. But how large the deficit has to be taken into consideration. What I am getting at is the joke attendance does little to pay CVS's now uncalled for salary. Attendance has to be one of the major factors when determining the HC's salary. And the low attendance is not a new issue this year.

CVS will probably be back next season
If Hobbs decides differently , whining isn't an option :chairshot:
But I feel Hobbs will look at this year as an abnormality and give Vivian
another year because he has faith in her [thumb2]

Any sport fan watching this game would quickly realize that Ohio State is better at making 3 pointers than Rutgers is at making layups. It truly is unwatchable basketball for a once proud program who successfully competed against top 10 teams.Coaching and recruiting need to be revitalized ASAP.

Madhat, I truly believe you are right that Hobbs will make the wrong decision. If he does, I will be 100% behind CVS and RU!

Yes, I think you both are sadly right. Admittedly Rutgers is not a profit-making corporation but no one brings up Hobbs' fiduciary responsibility to the taxpayers. CVS's poor product has driven attendance down increasing the subsidy that RU must give to the women's program. If it is likely a new coach will bring back excitement and attendance, does not Hobbs owe the taxpayers a new coach?

If I'm not mistaken, someone posted a few weeks ago that NJ taxpayers contributed somewhere around $29,000 to RU athletics, so it's ridiculous to think that any RU team owes taxpayers anything.

The attendance was 3061.
My brother-in-law worked years in the ticket office. That may be the official attendance number, but it is not indicative of paying patrons. He said, besides the out right artificially (basically lying) hyping the attendance numbers, they would give away mucho tickets for free to again boost the dismal numbers.

It's utterly amazing how you continue to just question and take the negative side of everything. Someone asked the attendance. I posted it and you tell us your brother-in-law lied about numbers in the past. You and all the people who can never find anything positive to post or talk about deserve each other.

Next year? Even with the return of Scaife, et al, I would temper all expectations for next season until you see what's actually happening on the floor 5-7 games into the season.

attendance has been pretty bad for about 4-5 years now...and regularly inflated as well

most likely included all student tickets that would be available to be given away for free.....then any other tix set aside for promotional purpose...attendence is regularly inflated for womens games. I saw shots of the crowd today, the lack of empties in the 100 levels were quite noticable not to mention student sections

Were you not making a point when u gave the attendance A point the you were making to give info to clarify previous posts that involved attendance. Which I am happy to listen toan d weigh it with all the other info given.

I made point that was trying to clarify your point. That is all.

You keep pushing this negativity thing. The only one that has been negative is you. And frankly I am tired responding to you. I wish u well, and know you love RU as I do, but your references to negativity over and over, distract from any real debate on the issues.

My two season tickets were included in that 3061 but I was not there nor my guest. I chose not to sit through another non competitive drubbing. I am a long time season ticket holder but this year tested my patience and enjoyment.

I'm not typically a HUGE fan of the women's team however, my expectations for next year is "sky high". I think they will become a top 20 team by mid season next year. I like Scaife and the "Rojos" a lot. JMHO.

Not case closed it doesn't matter who plays the game has passed her by. This team has had no offense for years. The offense has been pass the ball around for 25 seconds and then heave up a 3 pointer or turn the ball over

This guy is calling me negative! That could be the funniest thing I've ever read on these boards!!!

The case is closed on CVS,she is over the hill. She had Scaife last year and her record in the B-10 was 8-10.The recruits (transfers) will make it to about .500,this is no bargin at $700k.

I rarely every agree with this guy - let's be honest here lol - but he's spot-on with this spot. Too many programs HAVE surpassed us, as the guy has passed by CVS, and that's really a shame IMHO.

This thread clearly shows that the small number of fans that comment can't even agree on the attendance at a game,no less how the team will perform next year.

I thought there was a lot of people there as well. I wasn't surprised that the attendance was 3,000.

Looks like, from people that were at game, the attendance was about what was stated.
Guess going by the way attendance looks on TV can't be considered a reliable way to judge.
I think it is hard to judge by what is shown on TV and can't really be considered an accurate way to tell what size crowd is at a game.
Glad some who were at game gave an accurate description

Glad to see fans (paying and freebees) coming out to watch and support our ladies battle a top national team. Go RU. Now kick some butt in the Big10 tourney!

I thought it was a good crowd, possibly > 3000. Lots of youth teams, which is always great to see. I don't care what they paid to get in - many will spend on concessions once they are in the building.

As an aside, look for changes to season ticket pricing next year. RU knows that our pricing is way out of line with other B1G schools.

If you all became UConn fans, it would solve a lot of your problems.

(I'm kidding, I'm kidding!)

I strongly agree with the ticket pricing...but that probably goes back to pay for salary issues. RU has generally been out of touch when it comes to ticket pricing and was slow to notice the dropoff in attendance, have to adapt to changing demographics and ages and also get in line with how everyone else is trying to get people to womens games. Certainly the product on the floor must be improved substantially to get people back
