Carroo should be reinstated immediately..here's why

If all he did was defend his mom and GF, and if he didn't touch the alleged victim, then he acted as any son and boyfriend should've acted. Maybe not worthy of a statue. But also not worthy of being suspended.

Agree, and those who says he should stay suspended, how long? He has already been suspended for 2 games. If it turns out he was only trying to break up a fight, he should be suspended the whole year?

Sure Rutgers can keep him suspended because we all know they are afraid of the bad publicity. But is this the fair thing to do?

Let us remember he was only charged with simple assault.

Under New Jersey criminal assault law, simple assault is a disorderly persons offense. A person convicted of this offense is subject to a fine of up to $1000. There is no jail time even considered.

A reasonable thing to do would be to wait for the TRO hearing on the 6th. Rutgers should make sure they have some lawyers there. If materially everything stays the same, and the worst that could happen will be a conviction for simple assault, then Rutgers should announce either reinstatement for suspended time already served or add on a game or two extra, and announce a return date.

For all you hang em Harry judges out there, sorry, a full year suspension does not fit the crime here.

And I don't care what ESPN or any other yellow journalist thinks. It wouldn't mean RU doesn't care, it just would mean that they looked at all the factors involved and decided to do what they thought was right.

You've made a compelling case for allowing him to play sooner. Not sure 2 games would be enough if he is guilty of putting his hands on the victim. But a whole season seems like overkill. Half a season maybe.

It does not matter next week, we are not winning anyway.
Let's hope he can be cleared to play the following week in Indiana. We have a chance in that game.

As far as LC getting his suspension lifted, it never occurred to me about next weeks game, I was only thinking about what is fair and right for him, and for him, it matters a lot.

Are you always this negative about things? While it's true that we're very unlikely to beat MSU, we still have a slim chance. We're fans so what we think doesn't matter. But I sure hope the players don't have your attitude.

From my reading of the tea leaves at this point it was the Caroo posse that started the melee and was beating up on the victim. That would explain the Caroo gang getting arrested instead of the victim and her friends. Instead of Caroo defending his posse it's just as likely that he was piling on the victim along with the others. Let the courts settle it before we jump the gun to save his reputation.

Shame on us if we reinstate LC while these charges are still pending.

Stop it with the shame stuff. It has nothing to do with that. It has to do with fairness and what is right.

He was charged with simple assault, a disorderly persons offense. Even if convicted the suspension shouldn't be the whole season, so why do we have to wait? Because of publicity?

He has already served 2 games. Maybe he deserves a game or 2 more, but the whole season is too much.

After the TRO hearing on the 6th, RU should have enough information to make a decision. Have some balls and make one.

There simply is no way he should be suspended the whole season.

Thank you. That's one of my points and the other is the timing wouldn't be better given all the other crap going on right now as noted.

NUTs, I hear what you are saying. It is a fair question. I will be honest and say yes..I would give LC more credit for his situation. A starting All B1G player with pro future and a difference maker on the field in his last year . Not fair but in the big game of college sports it isn't going to be. The frosh or soph or junior will have additional years to play.

I think we are going WAY overboard here to be squeaky clean to a fault. If that's what we want, fine. But then take the losing and mediocrity that comes with it.

Why does being a Rutgers fan have to be so painful...aaahhhhh! Can they make one of these with the thing hitting itself over the head with the chair?:chairshot:

Ha. Well at least you admit certain players should receive special treatment based on their standing on the team. Props for admitting that but that is asinine.

Rihanna Peele had an assault charge last year for actions on a female and he was suspended until the court case was completed. Same should apply for Carroo. Sad for him that his college career would be over but that's the breaks. Shame is if he didn't have a piece on the side this all could have been avoided.

Yes, I am surely jaded about this season. Our Coaching is absolutely the worst in the B1G and we have an Administration that can gives 2 shats and is willing to let the program go down the tubes.

As far Carroo goes , I certainly want to see him on the field IF he is innocent. Let the system work itself out...hopefully sooner . I will be in my RU gear in the stadium in Indiana and like our chances with him on the field.

Why should the same apply, where the circumstances exactly the same?

Ok, Lets see. Peele was charged in August, but was not suspended until he was cleared to play in Nov. He then missed the next four games.

So by your "same" should apply standard, Peele missed 3 games and a bowl game. So you are saying Carroo should miss 4 games. I could live with that, but even that is excessive for what he was charged with. But, ok, by your standard, 4 game suspension. Fine, Rutgers, do it, but do not suspend him for the year when that is not called for.

The announcement was that he was suspended until his legal matters were cleared up not 4 games. Now in the end it happened to be 4 games but if the matter was still on going he would still be suspended. As such, Carroo should have the same treatment suspension until the matter is cleared. If it clears tomorrow and he is innocent great play versus MSU. If it doesn't clear then sorry.

Next time hopefully he will stay out of the fracas or let his family be smarter and stay out or don't have a side piece. Any of the above and we aren't here.

Carroo's personal matters are not the issue here. Easy to judge somebody else. The facts of what happened are, his actions in the altercation are what matters. And maybe Peele got screwed then. But is Rutgers going to live with that as the standard forever now going forward even it it is not fair? So what, somebody is going to get arrested for unpaid parking tickets and get suspended for 2-3 games until resolved?

As I proposed. Suspending pending investigation give RUs the control and ability to determine the significance of the situation and then determining the appropriateness of the punishment. Just having a blanket policy gives ZERO room for handling in the interest of all parties.

Why is it not fair? Get arrested and get charged with hitting a woman you don't play. What is unfair about that?

All that has changed since the arrest is a defense attorney saying his client is innocent and more members from Carroo side being charged. So how can you say the significance of the situation has changed?

I didn't say it has changed. I said RU should have done an investigation to determine it in the first place. Sorry. Not one of those guys that thinks just because somebody says something happened it did, and just like they claimed. I'm also not going to be punching any women (hell, never in my life punched anybody)...but if some crazy a$$ women jumps in my face and starts assaulting me you think I'm going to just stand there and not grab here, restrain her, or push her away? (and yeah, I know that is that the exact situation here. I get it) but...
Seen enough credible posts on this board to cause me to believe in some ways it was a mandatory arrest based on 1 person's claim.

Hey, do not get me wrong. I am not saying what was claimed didn't happen. I am saying RU should/could have looked into the facts (and maybe they did).... then decide to maintain or adjust. IF they did it would be nice to know. Because what I am seeing and hearing and reading about the situation would cause me to re-evaluate the suspension if I were in charge. I'm not. So this is all just back and forth on a message board. And now I am repeating myself so I will just move on.

Whatever happens with LC, is he really ready to play physically? Worst would be he gets reinstated and two plays in pulls a hammy and is out for season. RU coaches and staff need to be sure, if they get LC back.

He was arrested.

Our our fans really saying he just "broke up a fight?"

Funny how when the arrests were at other programs, the player was guilty off the bat, but for us, your scholarship is a constitutional right...

Sorry you don't even "break up fights" when you are a senior with serious NFL prospects.

There are consequences for actions, he decided, you know what, whatever is happening here matters more than my career and the horrendous publicity already embroiling the program.

Just stop. It is not like he was walking down the street and arrested at random.

1984 - thank you for following up and being honest. While I will never share that line of thinking - never have - I respect your right to it! [thumb2]

Our our?

Can't speak for others, but I'm not saying he broke up a fight. I'm saying that it may turn out that he did nothing more than what was shown on the one video where he got his GF away from the crowd and never touched the victim.

And if you think the cops don't sometimes get arrests wrong, especially in the case of a mini-brawl like that one, then you're reality-challenged. I guess you feel we should scrap the entire legal system and just convict upon arrest?

And lastly, you would have to be either a coward or a robot to not leave the building if you see your mom and GF in harms way. You get an F in empathy.

Cali - just gotta stick with protocol here, IMH

I don't' want ANY of our student-athletes suspended, however, we can only discuss how it's handled, and what we think about it, right?

We can discuss how it is handled, only after we know the facts. No offense, but there has been a lot off questionable information passed off as fact.

It is intelligent to discuss this, after facts have come out. So far we have seen very little.

Most fan bases understand this. Rutgers will get there one day, or maybe it won't.

Football players are on scholarship. Scholarships are not a constitutional right.

Cops mess up reliably, but so far there is evidence Carroo involved himself.

And sorry, a 22 year old NFL prospect does not involve himself in a fight between an 18 and 40 year old.

The way people on here act you'd think Ronda Rousey came at Carroo's mom with a chainsaw.

You have no idea what happened nor the extent to that which may have happened, did. Every junior attorney/paralegal should understand this.

OK, here are two very important facts.

Fact: He was charged with Disorderly persons offense.

Fact: The maximum penalty is $1000 fine, NO JAIL TIME.

Now, I say wait for the TRO hearing, RU should gather as much info as they can and then make a decision. Add a game or 2 more suspension if you want, but this offense does not merit a whole year suspension even if he is found guilty.

I get it, let the justice system work, get all the facts out on the table, I understand people having this view. But we all know this is going to take way too long. Why is it fair that he be suspended the whole year for something that does not warrant that.

I think you're probably correct. Even if he were found guilty, it probably wouldn't warrant a year's suspension.
