CIOFFI STILL CAN'T TACKLE

Evidence it is the talent and not the coaching. The kid can't play, bottom line. Time and time again he runs into the player high and bounces off the player without wrapping him up. I can't stand it.

You think he would have learned to wrap up instead of bouncing off

For all the talk about not playing kids who aren't buying in during practice (Martin, Turay, Hicks, etc), what is the point of playing a senior who consistently demonstrates a lack of basic fundamentals on game day? The later is just as bad or even worse to me.

Was walking back into the living room on that punt return and didn't catch the player's number who whiffed the initial tackle attempt, but I immediately thought "was that Cioffi, again"?
Unfortunately, he's that predictable

Unbelievable that he's a senior starting safety for this team.
His contributions have been mostly negative game after game for years.
We must have better somewhere on the bench.
Flood depleted the team of talent. What do you expect? This is a 3-4 year rebuild.

He's a good kid that's graduating this year. Cut him a dam break!! Maybe he's sick of playing on a soon to be 2-10 team.

1. Maybe he's part of the reason the friggin team is 2-10.
2. If he's tired of playing on this team then he should take off the uniform and let someone else give it a try. There's got to be guys on the bench who can not make plays just as well as him.

K: the team quit playing after the Minnesota game, they simply don't care. Yes, they come out and give you a spirited quarter but if you watched today's game the team quit.

We all have questioned Rutgers lack of tackling for the past several years... Anthony Cioffi may be a nice guy...but as far as tackling goes he is just terrible and there is NO good excuse....if he is injured he should not be playing...I go to the New Mexico game as an example of his POOR tackling...that New Mexico QB made him look like he had no cajones...

Many times the first guy down on punt returns does not make the tackle but makes some contact to slow the returner down. as he did. It would have been nice if he made the tackle but I wouldn't call it a bad play on his part. He is not of thick build and has made some errors by not wrapping up but has also made good plays too and always hustled, cut the kid a break.

Now why three other defenders bunched up and got in each others' way, well that is the better question.

May be the worst tackler on the worst tackling team in the country. Plenty of other whiffs during the season. Been a problem for years.

Don't give us that ..." he gave his all"....Cioffi has missed toooooooo many key tackles for several years....that is one of a dozen reasons we went 2-10...no team speed...no skill players (but a few)....no receivers ( after Harris and Grant)...a lack of player strength all around...poor special teams play ...oh did I say ...NO PUNTER ...NO KICKER for field goals and kickoffs...What D-1 major P-5 school lacks all of that?...No experienced LB ers ....Flood's recruits hardly played ...lost several key players early in the year...so, no shame on us NickKnight 1 ...shame on your inability to tell it like it is...

A jersey kid stays home, and this is what he get gets, shame on all of you.

I'm pretty sure we were his only P5 offer. So really we were just his best offer. But I'm sure Old Dominion offered at least we beat them out.

Nice kid. Great family. Great deli. He is a big believer in what Coach Ash is doing here.

He struggled a ton at S and I'm being nice. Someone needs to step up and improve in his place for next year. Either KJ Gray, Hester or a true frosh.

That's a pretty good summary.
BTW, let's not act like Cioffi was all that in defending the pass either.

If being sick of playing on a 2-10 team is the root of any player's problem, then we are better off without him. Maybe said player should look in the mirror and contemplate his role in the team being 2-10.

That said, I have no reason to believe that Cioffi feels that way. Just responding to the postulate.

OK, OK, I know he's a great kid, tries his hardest, his teammates like him, and his family makes great hoagies, BUT: he is not a B1G safety. Period.

If his father did a similar bad job wrapping (sandwiches) his deli would have gone out of business by now.

Cioffi wanted to go to Pedd State or the Puppies but they didn't offer him.

Glad I wasn't the only one. Another stellar flood recruit with 1 Power 5 offer.

Hey, I'm sure he's a great kid....from a great family.
But I don't think he plays for any other school in the Big 10.
And I don't think the coaching staff is gonna be losing any sleep trying to figure out how to replace his contributions.
BTW, I think he set a league record for ball carriers bounced off of while trying to make a tackle.

never pile on a player, they are doing their best, i blame the coaches whose job it is to correct the problems the kids have, that's why they get paid the big bucks
