Clark to RU

...and another

In my view, this commitment is bigger than Anthony Davis selecting RU over Ohio State due to the timing (assuming it holds, have to put that in as a RU fan). His commitment comes with a majority of the top NJ recruits still considering RU so it has to have a positive influence. Davis committed at an all star game late in the process when most recruits were already far along in their processes. Pied piper effect. Very happy right now!

Yes, maybe someone else remembers differently, but this may be the earliest+best recruit ever.

What great news! Welcome to the Banks, Jamaal and Micah! The SJV practice fields are right next to my property (well, with a buffer of trees). Nice to get some great local (very local!) talent to Rutgers!

Welcome! Its such a relief to see the cream of the crop show true leadership and rep their state. Let's hope the momentum continues.

This guy Chris Ash isn't from the east coast or Jersey, doesn't know Jersey, doesn't know the HS coaches, doesn't know Jersey culture, isn't a proven recruiter........did I forget anything else the nah sayers were sayin.......just sayin man.

Awesome. Have to admit that I had doubts our Midwestern staff could close on the Jersey kids. Glad to be proven wrong.

Jamaal Beaty highlights. Kid looks good. Plays left guard. Looks like he gets a lot of reps where he pulls, which is very beneficial to a lineman heading to play in college. Some guys learn to pull for the first time when they get to this level of play.

I do hope we can now all look forward and stop looking back and complaining about Flood. He is clearly gone, thankfully. This staff will keep the ball rolling. Can't wait.

Trust me, all the ney Sayers are very happy they are being proven wrong. It's a good day to be an RU fan, whether you were for the hire or down on it, doesn't matter.

Exactly. No excuses for recruiting with this guy! No "how are we supposed to compete against Franklin, Harbaugh, and Urban?" No more "we don't have the facilities to recruit NJ's best!" No more "we have to establish ourselves in the B1G" or "these kids just don't want to stay home" crap. NO MORE BS EXCUSES we had to listen to this past few years from some on this board!

Ding, Fing, ding! Listen, if you can recruit and you can sell your vision top Nj kids will come here! Schiano got them to do it while in the Big East! Ash will do it now!

Great point - we're all Rutgers fans. I'm sure even the Flood supporters are happy. I wanted Flood gone 2 years earlier, but when Ash was hired, I was "cautiously optimistic," i.e., I didn't really know enough about him to judge how he'd do. Obviously, he's off to a fabulous start on the recruiting trail and with the coaching staff and the current players, by most accounts.

I think as long as we show some improvement, meaning more energy, playing a little smarter, and limiting off-field embarrassments (and doing at least a little better than 4-8, especially including reducing the blowouts), I think the positive momentum will continue and the program will continue to get better and better. We all know what's possible here at Rutgers with the geographical/demographic gifts we've been blessed with. It's really time, now.

Why? Last time I checked, NJ coaches are like every other coach in the country... They like sincere, genuine, passionate people like Ash. This "Jersey" coaches only prefer "Jersey" guys is utterly stupid.

Agree. 15 years ago, after Shea, I would have disagreed but it's a completely different ballgame right now and that was far from a "must" when this staff was hired.
