Cliff a liability right now

There was a stretch where he had a real nice mid range game and could contribute some. Now that's gone and exclusively one side of court contributor. Also one or two head scratcher plays every game.
Come on man. He was 6 of 8 and his mid range game was money in the Iowa game just a few days ago. He had a bad game against NW but it wasn’t even as bad as our fans are making it. He was 2-6 but both shots were lay ups. After missing badly on his first mid range he seemed to realize his shot was off. 2 of the other 3 misses were with the shot clock winding down.

Let's hope Ohio St is reading this thread and buying into the notion that he's hurt and depressed. 🤣
The sky isnt falling just because he's not throwing down as many monster dunks. Others have said that teams are focusing on taking his game away. Perhaps its not a coincidence that Spencer and other shooters are scoring more while his offense has suffered a little?

start Hyatt, but in for Mag

Let Mag have decent off the bench minutes however
I keep McConnell in
The best part of Hyatt is to be able to bring him off the bench. Team is fine where he is. Same with Mag. He does what the team needs him to do, while starting.

McConnell PLAYED good d. Past tense. Haven’t seen it this year. Pike will continue to play him starter minutes but Hyatt’s d isn’t any worse and he’s a much better offensive player.

Caleb was chasing Buie and Audige all game. They went 8-25 for 25 points combined. I like Hyatt a bunch but he doesn't defend like Caleb.

This is a ridiculous thread that should probably be deleted...
I think it's just poorly titled. "Cliff's struggles" or "Cliff is frustrating at times" would be a better title, but the inflammatory stuff gets the replies.
Without Cliff we are a sub .500 Big Ten team, does anyone challenge that?
But it is entertaining to point out his flaws. That's what internet message boards are for right?
Plus, look at the guy, he looks like a superhero, you know we're all jealous.

Someone pointed out that the players he defended shot 8 for 25, which is not stellar

We can't measure his defense on the noticeable steals only

If he disrupted play sets of the opposition it doesn't show up on the books

He’s been too slow on closeouts since coming back. Hyatt got beat once by Buie off the dribble but Cliff was supposed to be there. Other than that play, Hyatt did fine all game.
That was to r best I’ve seen Hyatt play.

I concede that good point, that McConnell can run the O and handle the ball but you don’t need that with Paul in the game, especially when Spencer is in the game too. McConnell gets loyalty minutes. Hyatt is the better player. In fact, I think Mag is better too.
Hyatt had a good game because he hit a few outside shots that everyone notices

Hyatt and Simpson are always ready to shoot, imo, when they have the ball and open

Yesterday it worked in regards to Hyatt

I don't know if we can count on that game after game, and in critical situations

Both good players, but not the go to players in crunch time
Cam outside Paul top of the key, or Cliff inside if We can get there

Look - not criticizing the guy personally. But he’s not himself. R

Right now it’s the Cam, Mulcahy and Hyatt show. Hopefully Cliff rights the ship and he and Mconnel (who also ha struggled some, even on D) can carry the team at another point.
Not being himself does not make him a liability.

You can argue all you want, there is no denying that Caleb and Cliff have not contributed on offense recently and this is hurting the team alot. They should both be scoring in double figures and it is very puzzling that they are not; it also puts alot of pressure on the rest of the team.. In addition, Caleb's turnovers in last 5 games are headscratchers - sometimes he looks like a freshman, not a senior.

Cliff is still raw. No court awareness or instinct. Too often ends up stuck behind the backboard like a clumsy 5th grader. Even a stiff (sorry for the term) like the NU ctr can hold his own just with savvy and recognizing limitations…even on defense. Like the screen to keep Cliff from defending Buie’s drove past Hyatt.

You’re not criticizing him personally?

You started a thread in the middle of a game that we WON, singled him personally out for playing horribly on both ends of the floor, and even had the nerve to insinuate it could be from depression. Re-evaluate.
