Coach Ash at Giants practice to watch (and still coach) Eli Apple

This is nothing but goodness. Building a relationship with the local pro teams adds depth to the relationships with the high school players and coaches.
Agreed. It would be a different story if Apple got drafted by the Browns.

Shows how good his relationships are with his players - important for his recruits to know. He's also a different animal than Schiano was when he was at Rutgers as far as perception/cooperation with pro coaches.

Would be cool if he's also seen at Jets practices with Darron Lee.

Love everything coach Ash has done so far. His off the field actions are A+ hopefully we can translate this to an A+ performance on the field.

You might be right, but I'm a little confused by why you think the perception is different than Schiano?

Did the Giants or Jets ever have a kid from Rutgers drafted during Greg's time? I can't remember any. And, I don't think social media was not used as extensively (with so much twitter/instagram/facebook/etc) as it is today. Seems like Ash is simply taking advantage of a situation that Schiano didn't have. It's a great thing for Ash and RU, but I don't see why Schiano is criticized -- especially considering Greg had an incredible relationship with Bill Belichick, which obviously paid dividends for RU and its players.

GS was criticized by many NFL teams and admitted himself afterwards that he should have been more open to NFL teams who inquired about his players. He was not welcoming to pro scouts and other coaches when they came calling. He managed the program like BB manages the Patriots - problem is that he never won like BB and in the pro's you can run a closed program because you draft the players. Ira Kaufman, a Tampa sportswriter who used to appear on Mad Dog's radio show, said GS was universally hated by other teams when he was the TB coach because he was such a jerk to NFL teams while he was coach at Rutgers.
