Coach Chris Ash Postgame Press Confernce - Penn State

Thanks for posting. Nothing we didn't expect. Can't help it; still like the guy. He just can't put together a coaching staff to save his life.

He really believes that then he is not a competent coach.
No TDs in the last 10 Qtrs of football. This OC is as bad as they come.
Who knows what he really believes, but what do you expect him to do - call out his OC in a press conference? You want him to say, "Yeah, we could've won, but Drew has his head up his arse and doesn't know what he's doing"?

No, dont say a thing about your OC in your post game conference.
"We were outplayed in all phases of the game".

Not to throw some BS line that you are happy with the Playcalling.

Yeah, but one of the reporters specifically asked about Drew being responsible for the poor performance. He replied by saying, no, it's on all of us. Then he mentioned that his OC called some good plays.

I don't think Ash cared if we went 0-12 this year, he wants to implement his system whether our players can run it or not. This was a total throw away of a season

You think he can convince Hobbs to extend his contract? We're sooo far away from where we need to be. He can't get enough pieces to have a respectable team his third year (2018), so Hobbs would need to either extend or terminate Ash's contract with one year to go.

will he "feel" the same way next year? time for hobbs to call a meeting.he said we would have exciting football this year, another thing he stated that he would not waste a scholie on a kicker, that's coming back to bite him in his ass. the staff he brought with him reminds me of a clown car at the circus, not one of them have improved any player this year. we got to bite the bullet and show the whole inept staff the door

Ash strikes me as very principled. He's going to stick to his plan.

I would give him the opportunity to leave gracefully after calling Schiano to beg him to come back. Tomorrow morning.

He's in way over his head. It's only going to get worse. Cut bait and pray he doesn't want to enforce whatever contract he was given.

Sounds like we being conditioned that next year will be the same. I get it that the talent will not be much better but how about player development and trying to get a little better on the execution and handling game day situations.

Did he really say that?

Hey you can't help but feel for the guy but here is the question that nags at me is whether they are a better team now at this point of the season then earlier in the year? I know they lost Grant and Lambert but is any other positions getting sorted out or are you seeing evidence of progress in coaching and player development that gives you a sense that we are in good shape? Maybe CB? The thinking was that once we got past OSU and Michigan we should be more competitive and there were a couple of games where we were but these last two weeks have been very disheartening to me.

Ash's favorite band is Florida-Georgia Line. If losing by a combined 224-0 versus OSU, Mich, MSU (in a down year) & PSU isn't enough to move on, his choice of music should be the tipping point.

You guys need to lay off the line "he called some good plays."

Saban or Meyer would MAYBE have two more wins more than we have now if they were our coach.

Our roster is f'in bad. There isn't a play God could call were we would get a first down when it mattered let alone a TD.

Flood f**ked this program worse than any other coach we've ever had and Pernett is 100% to blame. We were getting into B1G with or without him because we are located next to NYC.

I wonder why he put Gio in on 3rd down when Oden was moving the ball. Did Oden get hurt?

That dog does not hunt when you look at our stats against PSU last year in their house with no Carroo. We did not look completely inept-and had 251 yards passing, perhaps because we threw the ball downfield. Roster was the same except no Lumpkin or Paul James. So stop crapping on the players. Same offensive players last year looked light years better than this year.

He's not running a power spread. He may think he is trying to teach these kids how to run a different system but he is not. How do I know this, just look at the results. An experienced HC that wanted to implement the power spread would have assessed the athletes and eased into a different offense. A head coach like Ash forced it down our throats, hired incompetent coordinators and now is "running" the program into the ground. All I'm trying to say is that he could have been much smarter about the transition. However, let me be clear about the following; I blame Barchi, Hobbs (a very bright man with no D1A AD experience) and coach Ash for accepting the position. We as a university are too fixated with image and fear of criticism. I knew of at least two HC geniuses that needed a second chance in life that would have turned this program around in three years, and I mean threaten for s B10 title. Instead we're gambling on a 5 year plan with a guy who in my humble opinion is lost.

it's mainly talent.. next year is prob worse than this year.. maybe get 2 conf wins in 2018??... this is the guy you hired.. he has no name, no recruiting pull, and a bottom dollar staff. Your 2 legit players JPO and Hamilton that will be SORELY missed next year...those dudes would garner snaps on any BIG DL.. gotta feel bad for those guys as they are legit.
