Pike will have to be in the conversation.
We are certainly finishing ahead of preseason projections. Not saying I think he's coach of the year, but your criticism seems unrelated to the facts.Coach of the year should not be about a team picked to finish 1-3 who finishes 1-3....it should be about the team that surpasses expectations.

Okay, I may just not get it. Are you saying the other guys picked to finish at the top should not necessarily be rewarded for finishing where expected? Sorry for confusionI think you misread my comment. No criticism at all.
I think RU would have to win at least 2 more regular season games and probably pick up 2 conf tournament wins for Pike to even be in the conversation. Honestly I still don’t see it even with that. I think you gotta at least finish in the top half of the league , even the top 1/3 to truly have a claim at coach of the year

He might be, who knows. But, I will tell you this, Northwestern sucked! I know most of you are not used to winning anything, but this game should have been won by more than a few points. RU, was bigger, stronger, more athletic, and if they could make simple shots, like layups, foul shots, they would have won by much more. Great D...but this game is all about putting a ball through a hole!
thats Painter and also Iowa pretty bad last year and now they are a NCAA team
worst job is clearly Miles
"milestone" for RU, but not for basketball. "Young" yes but it's a game of skill, you either have or you don't. I believe Rutgers players have plenty of skilled players, you know that, because there are different players, winning different games. Their inability to play basic basketball, as a team, is the difference. As an example;; I saw Doorson, grab a rebound under the basket, against a 6'7" type of guy, and instead of putting the ball back up(maybe dunk), he throws it out to the top of the key. Folks, this game is about ball, in hole.....!true, except this team is young and learning to win and learning to play with the lead so tonight was a milestone, it didnt have to be pretty
Of course you take the win! But, don't fool yourself, Rutgers didn't "make Northwestern play poorly" they sucked from the get go! Rutgers plays down to the competition. Athletically, there are few teams in the B1O that can matchup with RU. This game as many others, are won and lost from the neck up.On November 23, 2014, the Scarlet Knights beat St. Francis Brooklyn 76-73 at the RAC. They put the ball in the hole and had to survive against St. Francis.
Tonight they won their 2nd Big Ten road win of the season by uglying it up, playing defense and rebounding the heck out of the ball. I will gladly take this win... no matter how ugly it was. Rutgers made Northwestern play poorly.

No argument here! My point is that Northwestern did not deserve this kind of respect. They suck! And, to play down to them is a loss. This team, program, will never reach the status it should with mediocre performances against horrible teams. Maybe next year.I'm not fooling myself. I saw a team that played great defense and limited Northwestern on the boards... they dominated them 44-30. Rutgers essentially kept the Wildcats to one and done each time down the court. Yes, the game is about putting the ball in the hoop, but it's also about stopping the other team. This is the kind of game Pikiell says he likes. Make it ugly and dominate in the paint on both ends.

Doorson, I believe is what, 6'10" 250! Ca mon, geez where in hell did he learn how to play basketball!?

Only if you don't understand the game, or the competition. I once met a person who thought the Earth was HUGE, until I showed him Saturn.this is a ridiculous post

No.....right now its Painter's to lose. They lost Haas and no one would expected they would be strong as they are right now contending for the league title I think Fran, Underwood, and Pike have shots at it but it would depend on how the season goes. Pike isnt getting it unless RU is 8-12 in the league. If Iowa finishes real strong, Fran has a shot.
