I'm on my phone in a car (pulled over to the side of the road), so I apologize for typos, if any.
As promised, here is the info I promised last night.
As you know if you read the post, I wrote in an effort to assure you Rutgers was doing its homework and reaching out to qualified candidates. That was definitely the case. I did not mention an offer, negotiations, or anything of that manner. Just interest that was reciprocated.
So, with that said.... Let's go. The person who I was referring to was Pat Narduzzi. Before Rutgers even put out feelers, he expressed interest. This is a job that has intrigued him for quite some time. Rutgers put out feelers last week, and he made it known to confidants that he was going to listen and that he felt he could win big at Rutgers. He has done a great job at Pitt thus far and was heading towards a pay raise. Was he planning on using Rutgers to get that raise (as Schiano did a couple times in the past when at Rutgers)? I don't know, but I have it on very good authority that he was hoping Rutgers would inquire and that he was receptive.
If Rutgers is negotiating with Ash a day or two after contacting Narduzzi, then it is clear that they want Ash. Ash is their guy.
