Almost broke the school record and qualified for NCAA Championships in Eugene. We also have 2 javelin throwers who qualified but Griffith's time is smokin! The school record of 45.7 in the 400 goes all the way back to 1971 by Tom Ulan, one of the fastest white men ever.

from ScarletKnights.com:

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Jermaine Griffith (Hamilton, N.J.) became the third Scarlet Knight to qualify for the 2015 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon as the sophomore qualified in the 400m following his eighth place performance at the East Regional on Friday evening.

Resetting his PR for the second straight day, Griffith clocked in with a time of 45.82. His finish time was not only .32 seconds faster than his preliminary performance (46.14), but also only .12 seconds off the school record and the second fastest time in the RU record books. Griffith's time is the fatest time at Rutgers since the use of automatic timing. He was one of 12 from the East Region to advance to national championship racing in the 400m.

Griffith reaches the NCAA Championships for the first time in his career in his second NCAA East Regional appearance. While injury kept the sophomore away from the track in the early part of the outdoor season, he rebounded by reaching the finals of the 400m at the Big Ten Championships. Griffith finished in fourth place at the conference championships and captured a then-PR of 46.85 during the preliminaries.
Griffith joins javelin throwers junior Thomas Carr (Voorhees, N.J.) and freshman Christopher Mirabelli in representing Rutgers at the 2015 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship in Eugene, Oregon.

Carr and Mirabelli were one of 12 javelin throwers to advance out of the NCAA East Regional to the national championship on Friday afternoon. Carr placed ninth at a distance of 69.09m (226' 8"), reaching the mark on his first throw of the day. Mirabelli claimed 11th place reaching 68.02m (223' 2") on his third and final attempt.

Josh Suttmeier (Pattenburg, N.J.) also competed in the javelin on Friday. He went the distance of 63.65m (208'10") to place 29th overall.

Carr, appearing in his third NCAA Regional, advances to his first national championship. The 2013 American Athletic Conference and 2012 BIG EAST javelin champion placed sixth at the Big Ten Championships earlier this month. During the 2015 outdoor season, the junior Scarlet Knight placed first four times with titles at the Colonial Relays, Raleigh Relays, USF Bulls Invitational and PR of 72.78 (238' 9")at the Tennessee Challenge.

Mirabelli reaches the NCAA Championship in his first season "On The Banks". The first-year Scarlet Knight took fifth at the Big Ten Championships and captured a PR of 69.84m (229' 2") in taking first place at the Larry Ellis Invitational in Mid-April.

I think you just violated the sites "copy paste rule" just saying.....congrats to him

I believe Jermaine now has school record since previous was hand timed and when you add 0.14 to 45.7 it becomes 45.84. My dad spoke with Coach Mulqueen yesterday and got the impression they consider it the record.

Makes sense. I think Elliott Quow also hit 45.7, but again that would've been hand-timed also. At any rate, 45.84 is not only a great time, but he's only a sophomore and Rutgers has a kid coming in next year who has split a 45 in high school. One can't overstate how beneficial it is to have training partners at your level. That 4x400 is looking tight for next year!
