Stole our thunder. Now if we are lucky enough to beat them the media will say ho hum Rutgers, they beat a bad PSU team big deal. How did they lose to Temple. I mean they looked BAD.

I look at it a different way: Temple beating PSU, 2 weeks prior to us playing them, may have been the "kiss of death" for us. I surely hope not, obviously, but it would just seem to fit into the narrative of football program over the years.

I don't think it really matters other than taking a bit of the luster off any potential victory. It would be a hit more to Franklin's image to lose to two local teams.

I thought PSU was looking at a 9-3 this year. They still could but unless Temple's D is really special it sure puts a lot potential losses in play.

You think the OL let their prodigy QB get destroyed so that way we wouldn't have the satisfaction of enjoying victory???............................ I think you're on to something

Its certainly puts pressure on us. Its won thing to lose to PSU. Its another to lose to a PSU team that just got dominated by Temple.

Obviously they didnt lose on purpose. But if PSU wins, it will be much better for them than if they had beat Temple and lost to us.

knightfan - PSU is getting nowhere near 9 wins. Northwesten looked good. Illinois looked good. RU and MD easily handled bad opponents. Alot of games that people were inking in as wins for PSU might end up with PSU not even being favored.

Thanks! Great to be back for football season!

BTW - Temple had a top 25 D, in 2014, AND returned ALL 11 starters.

Be interesting to see how they do against Buffalo this weekend....

I think people are thinking Temple is much worse than they actually are. Time will tell, but I suspect by the end of the year, it won't really be clear that we would beat them if we played. PSU is a mediocre team, plain and simple. We are likely in the same category. Our game with them this year will be extremely hard fought.

When we beat Penn State in 1988, that was the worst Penn State team of my lifetime (at least until that point). Did that take ANYTHING away from it? Hell, no. Did it matter any less? Hell, no.

OSU would never downplay beating Michigan no matter how much Michigan is down that year.

The same should always be the case or RU with PSU.

Correct we revel in the ineptitude of TTUN over the last decade and the fact that we dominate them. In a true rivalry all you care about is the fact that you win, you should have no time for their excuses.

They are going to LOSE next Saturday and Buffalo will be motivated to do a TEMPLE on them tomorrow.
