Cooper Flagg to 2024 and is #1

Makes sense.
Get to the NBA quicker.
Get through the rookie contract.
Get to the 2nd contract (potentially hundreds of millions) quicker.

He's born in Decemeber 2006.
I think that's the only reason he was a year behind Dylan (march 2006) and Ace (august 2006).
Cooper missed the school cutoff date as a child?

I’m sure that will end up happening but there is no way the rankings have been updated that quickly.

Edit: I stand corrected, looks like Rivals didn’t waste any time. Looks like the others haven’t gotten around to it yet.

Richie has mentioned this on the podcast the last couple weeks.
They were probably ready to go with the updates whenever they got the go ahead from Flagg.

This doesn’t mean a last-minute change by Harper to go play for Duke with him . . . Right?

I don't see it. Where do you see Flagg better than Ace? Shooting ability? Speed? Quickness? Ball Handling? They both played at the Curry Camp and Ace was the MVP, and Ace is NBA ready also.
Yeah Flagg is a better shooter, passer, and ball handler. Haven’t seen much of Ace using his offhand but Flagg is basically completely ambidextrous. He’s also an elite rim protector. There’s a reason he’s the early favorite for #1 pick in the 2025 draft. You won’t find anyone outside this site saying Bailey is better.

I do think Ace has a higher ceiling than Flagg in the end though because of his superior athleticism

For folks like me that don't follow recruiting closely:
Duke has long been considered the favorite for Flagg and hosted him for an unofficial visit earlier this month, but will face competition in his recruitment. UConn was a staple at Flagg's games in July, while Kansas and Kentucky are also involved.

Flagg is the hands-down #1, no complaints from me. Ace’s highlights are incredible (and scream potential star), but all the analysts have said he needs to work on becoming more consistent. Flagg is SUPER projectable — will be an elite defender in the NBA from day 1 (both on-ball and as a help-side rim protector) and pairs great size / mobility with a diverse offensive skillset. Love Ace — super high ceiling, but Flagg is reasonably the top ‘24

I wonder if Duke was also pushing this reclassify in addition to Flagg wanting it.

Since they are likely out in Harper, slide Flagg up into that scholarship spot?
They play different positions, could have easily played together. Duke was making room for Flagg when he decided he was ready, they have been on him for a long time.

Anyone saying ace is currently better is either a Rutgers homer or an idiot
They're one and two. It's not like they're ranked one and twenty, so you're comment makes you the idiot. If it was clearly obvious that Flagg was the better of the two then he would have been the MVP of the camp. I guess those who watched them both play for several days, including S. Curry, are idiots too, or maybe they're Rutgers homers.

Flagg is the more complete player at this point. Also he can windmill dunk from a standing position. Kid is very athletic and has a huge wingspan.
He's not the better athlete by any metric. And while windmill dunking from a standing position is not a sign that Flagg is better, I'm sure Ace can perform that feat with his eyes closed.

Umm what? It’s close. He just outperformed Flagg at a camp they were both at.
There have been dozens of these camps. Ace was awarded the top award at this one, but no real explanation given, could very well be based on the dunk show he put on. Cooper has been killing it consistently against the best competition, and has so far demonstrated he is more complete player than Ace, particularly around playmaking, defense, rebounding and blocking shots. Ace is great, but Cooper has built a much stronger resume against better competition, and he is younger. Could Ace be better in five years? Sure, but right now almost all analysts consider Cooper better.

I don't understand why you guys are so adamant about flagg being better than the guy going to Rutgers. That has been giving Rutgers so much positive press and recruiting other top players to Rutgers. I haven't seen a full game of either one of these guys play.
From highlights of each, their games look similar...ace even looks more fluid with his ball handling imo...flagg looks like he will get more shots up and is more confident in his shot while ace let's the game come to him at this point. I don't think ace is a better athlete. He's just more fluid in his movements so it looks smoother while flags explosion is sudden and violent. They both look like tremendous shot blockers...the better competition in Maine? Or do you mean on the aau circuit? I'll just leave it at time will tell who is the better player, just saw some guys saying people were "idiots" if they thought ace was better. Lol that boggles my mind...he might be better, promise I'm not an idiot..

Lots of chatter that the commitment to Duke is not too far away. I entered a FutureCast pick earlier this month because I was told that Flagg would commit to Duke in the next month or so.

Interesting that no word that Cooper's twin brother reclassed to 2024 🤔

Reminds me of the group of fans who tried to shout people down on Ray Rice by saying he was "no Steve Slaton." It's a weird thing.

"Bailey thrived in his role as point-forward, igniting the offense and facilitating throughout the entire scrimmage on Friday. At 6-foot-9, his length in that role was a headache for the opposition all morning and he picked his spots well, scoring in a variety of different ways all over the floor.

Bailey, a Rutgers commit who is ranked No. 3 overall in the Rivals150, played extremely assertively and seemed set on staking his claim at the top spot, even with the welcoming of

Cooper Flagg
to the 2024 class.

Bailey certainly looked like the top NBA prospect in attendance at the Elite 24."

What is your view of Ace vs Flagg. Who you like better?

AAU and playing at Monteverde Academy, he moved there for last year‘s season, probably the top basketball school in the country. Rivals and On3 have already moved Flagg to #1, TOS has an article up saying they will move him to #1 as soon as the update their rankings, and NBA Draft Room has moved him to their #1 pick of the 2025 draft, so right now everyone who closely follows this has unanimously moved Flagg to the #1 spot. I wouldn’t call anyone an idiot for believing Ace is better, and it may turn out that way, but the people who follow this daily believe Flagg is the best player to come along in a while.

While I think the gap may be a little closer than often said by analysts, Flagg is definitely number one. He led a team of kids from Maine to the E16 EYBL championship. He is maybe the best defender I’ve ever seen in high school basketball. He has great statistics against some of the best competition at his age and beyond. I know Ace outplayed him at a camp but camp ball is definitely not the same as real basketball and Ace has qualities that would shine more in that setting where Flagg’s game is suited to competitive games.

I do think we are underrating Dylan in this convo. Unlike the other two, Harper was playing the top competition in EYBL E17 and put up great stats and led a Rens team that had only two other notqble recruits and even they were disappointing to the final 4. Hes really good too.

His rating was higher than Ace and Dylan, once he got moved to 2024, he passed them in the rankings.
