Not too long ago a top 150 would had everyone (well, almost everyone) doing cartwheels. Now some are worried about who is 1, 2 or 3 in the nation. We’ve come a long way baby.
You're absolutely right but you can't deny the attention we'd get from getting #1 and #2. Is #2 and #3 really all that different? Of course not but Rutgers getting #1 and #2, I mean the media attention and national perception would be something. Not too long ago a top 150 would had everyone (well, almost everyone) doing cartwheels. I've never seen Ace play. What is your view of Ace vs Flagg. Who you like better?
Flagg isn’t that that event. Ace is the best prospect there for sureRivals just did. See Richie's post. Says at elite 24 Bailey liked like best NBA prospect
Flagg was thereFlagg isn’t that that event. Ace is the best prospect there for sure
I don't think he was at elite 24....he was at the curry camp though, ace won MVP there as well.Flagg was there
AAU and playing at Monteverde Academy, he moved there for last year‘s season, probably the top basketball school in the country. Rivals and On3 have already moved Flagg to #1, TOS has an article up saying they will move him to #1 as soon as the update their rankings, and NBA Draft Room has moved him to their #1 pick of the 2025 draft, so right now everyone who closely follows this has unanimously moved Flagg to the #1 spot. I wouldn’t call anyone an idiot for believing Ace is better, and it may turn out that way, but the people who follow this daily believe Flagg is the best player to come along in a while.
While I think the gap may be a little closer than often said by analysts, Flagg is definitely number one. He led a team of kids from Maine to the E16 EYBL championship. He is maybe the best defender I’ve ever seen in high school basketball. He has great statistics against some of the best competition at his age and beyond. I know Ace outplayed him at a camp but camp ball is definitely not the same as real basketball and Ace has qualities that would shine more in that setting where Flagg’s game is suited to competitive games.
I do think we are underrating Dylan in this convo. Unlike the other two, Harper was playing the top competition in EYBL E17 and put up great stats and led a Rens team that had only two other notqble recruits and even they were disappointing to the final 4. Hes really good too.
I misspoke. I was referring to the Curry camp. Apologies.I don't think he was at elite 24....he was at the curry camp though, ace won MVP there as well.
Meaning?Re: Cooper vs Ace look at their AAU team W/L and levels played
Tells you who is more impactful and valuable
It’s not close
Cooper played EYBL and led his team to the Peach Jam finals - albeit he was playing 16's - but his team was players from Maine.Meaning?
I see now, you guys are going off of the press...ace was injured last year so he lost some time...flagg was playing a lower level of aau and dominating, also transferred to montverde this spring/summer so he's really in the spotlight now. Ace's aau team seems to play their own schedule and jamichael Davis seemed to be the only other high level d1 player. But Ace's highschool team made it to elite 8 of Georgia 7a state championship and lost to eventual champion wheeler. I'm not sure how flagg performed in Maine but I'm sure it was good as well. Looks like both of these kids have been in aau environments that make them stand out.Cooper played EYBL and led his team to the Peach Jam finals - albeit he was playing 16's - but his team was players from Maine.
Ace's AAU team played at a lower level and from everything I saw, wasn't very good
Flagg is regarded as a "generational talent" the type that changes an NBA franchise
Ace is a lottery pick, possibly even the #2 pick but not regarded as being that level
Cooper Flagg and his brother transferred to Montverde Academy last year. The 2023-24 season will be their second season at MVA.I see now, you guys are going off of the press...ace was injured last year so he lost some time...flagg was playing a lower level of aau and dominating, also transferred to montverde this spring/summer so he's really in the spotlight now.
I respect it...he's definitely worthy, just saying doesn't look like he's a level above Ace imo. We will see soon enough..Cooper Flagg and his brother transferred to Montverde Academy last year. The 2023-24 season will be their second season at MVA.
Cooper definitely got better over the course of the year. Had an incredible June and July. He was MVP of the NBPA Top 100 Camp and was the best player on the floor in each game I watched except when he matched up against Cameron Boozer.
Anyone saying ace is currently better is either a Rutgers homer or an idiot
