I don't disagree that the media will gin up certain stories based on the initial reaction or clicks it gets - and it's often based on a broad range of factors, not limited to sexism or race for example. Trust me- I have been on the other end of this in my line of work.
I just don't agree that this is one of those times. I think it's a local story covered locally that involves two people. The program oversight angle isn't that big because the program isn't very good or high profile. Is that fair? No. But a dear old friend of mine once told me that life isn't fair and that "fair" is just a weather report.
