Corey Not Starting

Just a stinky situation all around. I would bet Corey didn't do everything in his power to make the flight, but I think the majority of people have been in a situation where they missed their flight for whatever reason. Especially a young man like Corey. More than anything, I wish the NCAA held off on scheduling games until Friday. It's college athletics, give the guys some time with their family.

Some years ago, then-Rutgers coach Gary Waters flew out to the Midwest to be honored at Kent State. A freak snowstorm hit, and he was stranded, unable to get back to coach Rutgers in a scheduled game. Then-AD Bob Mulcahy wanted to fire him for cause, voiding his contract. Waters' lawyers snickered, and he was paid off. Fred Hill Jr, Walters' assistant and Mulcahy's coach in waiting, coached RU in the game, which Rutgers won, igniting a firestorm on the RU basketball board to immediately install Hill as coach, based on his supposed recruiting prowess. FHJ got the job at the end of the year and the rest is unfortunately history.
We don't know why Corey Sanders missed the flight, and probably never will. Maybe there was some emergency, maybe a breakdown in scheduled arrangements--or maybe he started off too late. So he didn't start. Would he have sat if there had been some extenuating circumstance (like Gary Waters being stranded by an unexpected storm)? Who knows? But some of the comments have been a little churlish. He has had problems, and this isn't the year he envisioned that would prepare him for the NBA. He did not play well tonight, and he often looks out of control in his moves, but that has nothing to do with him as a person. So don't make it personal based solely on speculation. Not starting Corey Sanders did not cost Rutgers the basketball game. And we can only hope our players stay away from this board. As our record dips toward .500, there is going to be a lot of blaming and finger pointing from those whose lofty expectations are not met.

Let's get our facts straight huh? Waters made a commitment for a awards
dinner in the middle of a season. He didn't care because they hired Hill as an assistant.
He was already looking for a job in the mid west. I and 20 million others knew
the storm was coming for days. If he didn't know, he was the only person alive
that didn't know. He was feed up with the East and wanted to go back home where he
knew the recruiting area better.

This entire thread is a disgrace ... he was punished that's enough, time to move on !!! Support our guys they are fighting their butts off

The punishment is not enough for some people.......they need to pile on and dedicate an entire thread to calling Sanders immature, selfish, will never be a PRO. One guy even said the entire season is now dependent on Sanders commitment level. Just ridiculous stuff.
