Thought the technical late on Ace after his great dunk was pretty thin. Didn't seem like he did a hell of a lot to warrant it. Also the one late on Lathan in the post didn't seem like much at all. Game changers.
I understand that is a stupid point of emphasis placed on the refs in these super intense games but after ACE posterized Conan , he was right there as they were a foot apart. Yes , ACE said something but he did it quick and ran up court. If Conan is not right there , ACE wasn’t going to chase him down. So to me by the letter of the law and the stupid emphasis on taking raw emotion out of the game , ACE got a valid tech but it sucks as the other guy was right in his face and ACE moved right upcourt after he said what he said. I would like that call let go and a play on. Huge momentum swing as lead was 6 and after 2 foul shots and ensuing layup went to 10. Even more crucial because from that point at 4:43 left , Rutgers cut the lead down to 2. So technical was impactful in the game and that should never happen in a game.I think it depends on which technical...the first one after the dunk was an obvious one.
The late dead ball contact foul where he got Ace Baldwin was a pretty borderline one I thought...looked worse than it was, and not any intent there as he was trying to turn upcourt and they collided. Thought it would stay as a common foul.
They called it consistently with what I've seen all season...Konan picked up a T earlier this season in a similar spot, and Nick Kern picked up a T earlier this season as well in a game where the opponent then picked one up a few possessions later when they did the same thing.I understand that is a stupid point of emphasis placed on the refs in these super intense games but after ACE posterized Conan , he was right there as they were a foot apart. Just because it is a stupid rule and it has been called doesn’t make it right. I have seen guys with posters go after the poster on the ground or interrupted their return upcourt. I believe there should be some discretion. Bailey after the poster found Conan upright 1 foot away and said something quick and ran upcourt. Didn’t have the evil taunting component they are trying to get out of the game. They called it consistently with what I've seen all season...Konan picked up a T earlier this season in a similar spot, and Nick Kern picked up a T earlier this season as well in a game where the opponent then picked one up a few possessions later when they did the same thing.
Staring a guy down and saying something after a dunk is pretty much an auto-Technical. Need to get back down the court and play defense.
That late dead ball contact foul was a complete setup by Baldwin to dupe the refs, executed beautifully. If you watch the replay, he ran right up on Bailey's elbow and waited for the slightest contact... Then threw himself to the ground. Cagey veteran move that played the referee like a fiddle.I think it depends on which technical...the first one after the dunk was an obvious one.

It actually is debatable. Thats not debatable.Technical was warranted. Not even debatable. He was right in his face.
There were a lot of bad calls and the whistle tilted toward Penn state but the turnovers were the primary reason for the loss imo.Thought the technical late on Ace after his great dunk was pretty thin. I agree with the sentiment but I’m not going to get all that mad at an 18 year old kid for being animated. They called it consistently with what I've seen all season...Konan picked up a T earlier this season in a similar spot, and Nick Kern picked up a T earlier this season as well in a game where the opponent then picked one up a few possessions later when they did the same thing.

I’m in my 30s and if I dunked on someone like that I’d probably be the biggest asshole on the planet for the next 5minutesdays.
I still have trouble with it because it’s hurting the team. Then again, I think I’m finally coming to grips with football players intercepting a 4th down pass 30 yards down the field then going off to celebrate, so maybe I’ll get there.I agree with the sentiment but I’m not going to get all that mad at an 18 year old kid for being animated.

Or Nick45”VerticalIf I just dunked tomorrow, my name would instantly be NickRU714(Dunker) on the board.
It would be the first line on my resume.
